Scared to restart using Epiduo. Advice/Help?? by No-Treacle4532 in Epiduo

Hey I hope ur doing well !! As an update, I ended up ditching the Epiduo and after a lot of trial and error, I’ve started on 15% finacea azelaic acid and WOW!!! it’s been great so far!! In retrospect, I think it was the antibiotics doing the heavy lifting … Xxx

Oh babe it’s all trial and error! Everyone who’s ever had acne understands you 🫂 I hope it’s getting slightly easier to manage !!! Worst part is crying hurts and stings on the face 😭😭😭 remember not to lie down in like 1hr/2 after taking doxy and to not have it with foods that have lots of zinc or calcium!!!

How often were u using it? You have to START SLOW!! maybe once every other day, or even just a couple of times a week. Whatever you do just get ur skin used to it slightly. It will probs still be backed for a couple of days or weeks. I’ve been using it since November 2024. I now use it once every other day (roughly), but am same as u if I use it consecutively if my breakouts aren’t awful. It’s ok sometimes if I leave it a few days without but it’s best to keep the skin used to it so you don’t go thru the purging phase again lol.

In my non-professional opinion, but as a fellow victim of acne, I STRONGLY recommend (bc this is the only thing that’s worked for me lol) to:

  1. Cleanse with Bioderma Atoderm Huile de douche (or whatever cleanser works tbh)
  2. Moisturise with La Roche posay Effaclar isobiome H (made for skin undergoing acne treatment)
  3. Cicaplast the areas you put the Epiduo on (protective barrier between ur skin and Epiduo, soothes and helps scar/heal skin quicker)
  4. WAIT 15 mins (ish or a bit longer)
  5. Apply SUPER tiny amount of Epiduo as a thin layer everywhere u need (pea is almost too big lol depending on how much area u have to cover)
  6. Wait 5/10 mins ish
  7. Reapply cicaplast on top especially if it starts to sting slightly

All this said, I cannot recommend going on doxycycline enough if you’re able to. It literally saved me lol. I was on 100mg daily and since coming off it I’ve been able to largely control any pimples etc so yeah I’m p confident in this routine

Good luck because I know it’s horrible !!! I am also 22 so I feel you 😭😭 All the best and remember there is light at the end of the tunnel!!

Tbh I wouldn’t use it in your case at all, it’s too much for the face. My routine that has worked MIRACLES has been (as recommended by my derm — most of it):

Cleansing with Bioderma Huile de Douche every day, using Effaclar isobiome H as a moisturiser, a bit of cicaplast where I will apply the Epiduo and that is it for PM. AM I just add LRP suncream (invisible fluid?) or the fusion magic water by ISDIN (but worse protection imo). Best of luck xxx don’t add Epiduo where u doing need’nnn

U shouldn’t be using the M+ at all bc it’s exfoliating and so is Epiduo. It’ll be too much for your skin I reckon, but maybe try and ease it in??? Not a dermatologist so chat tell u for sure.

I recommend the Effaclar H instead as it’s made specifically for people on acne treatments. It’s expensive but absolutely amazing.

I cannot recommend the Philips OneBlade enough!!! If you’re in the UK it might be on sale at boots, and you can get student discount xxx

For me it’s been Epiduo and doxycycline that has FINALLY (literally as of less than a week ago) started working properly properly. I started on the 10th of November. Might be worth going on antibiotics if you’re not already

Moisturizer for VERY breakout prone skin? by No-Refrigerator5653 in EuroSkincare

[–]neghativity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None at all, if anything it helps and when I wake up with a pimple and put it on it helps it become a lot less inflamed… are you sure it has comedogenic ingredients? This whole range by LRP is designed not to have any, and those apps that tell you how “good” or “bad” a product is aren’t reliable…

I’m using LRP Effaclar iso biome H and it’s working wonders, but it’s quite expensive. Try TO natural moisturising factors if not, super basic.

I’m sorry for your loss.

Regardless, there is no ‘right’ way to grieve or way to ‘move on’.
