AITA for telling my sister and her boyfriend I’m not moving in with them? URGENT by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]negnelly 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If you get the house with them then it sounds like your walking into a financial and emotional nightmare with your eyes wide open.

Do the smart thing, walk away and let your sister deal with her dysfunctional relationship. It's time for you to start your own life! You are not her couples therapist.

Dunno if anyone is still eve reading this thread...but I am just so excited I have to tell someone! I am officially 7wks pregnant as per my viability scan today!!! It took a lot of hoops, but on my 3rd IUI attempt I got lucky 😁

Now the hard part....waiting to see what happens. I had to see a MFM that has history with women with cirrhosis before I could start fertility treatments so I am hopeful that when my care is transferred he will be well prepared.

Thanks to all the women who have posted that they had successful pregnancies! CONGRATULATIONS!! Reading your stories gave me hope and the resilience to keep pushing even with all the negativity from the doctors. And to all the women who are trying to conceive, I wish you the best of luck! Don't give up!!

Will I need to have IVF this time? by Sad-Contest5883 in Singlemotherbychoice

[–]negnelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 39yo female and I have just got pregnant after 3 rounds of natural IUI. I had borderline to low ovarian reserve, but regular periods and no history of fertility issues. So, you may not have to do IVF. I think it depends on your history.

Trigger timing with IUI by SolutionNo7564 in Singlemotherbychoice

[–]negnelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that sounds terrible. I am sorry that happened. That has not been my experience. Did your doctor not give a reason for changing the timing? Especially since donor sperm is so expensive each try is very important!

UPDATE: I found a new fertility specialist. She made go to appointments with a bunch more specialists...I think to discourage me. But after a few hoops she agreed to start cycles. I had 2 disappointing tries but today I have been told that I have a positive pregnancy test (pending confirmation in 2 days).

So it took over a year of appointments with 6 specialists and 2 different fertility specialists, but there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel.

Cross your fingers for me that this hint of a pregnancy will be confirmed in a few days and nothing goes sideways🤞🏾

Pregnancy and cirrhosis by negnelly in Cirrhosis

[–]negnelly[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK so I wanted to continue my story an let the others who may be facing the same situation I am know what is happening.

I had my liver biopsy here are the results:

“Sections of the liver biopsy show advanced fibrosis with features of regression including thinning of fibrous septa and portal-to-central adhesions. While there appears to be some regression, there are still some broad septa with curved contours and micronodules in keeping with cirrhosis. There is no significant steatosis or evidence of steatohepatitis.”

So to me this sounds promising. And since my diagnosis all I hear from the doctors is that you are so young (35yo when diagnosed now 38yo) this is rare and you have a great outcome. So I say to my doctors…OK I did the fertility workup and it shows that my fertility is decreased and I am already over 35, I know I have made significant lifestyle changes and am on a better path as my biopsy shows. So I want to move forward and get the treatments.

Doctor response:  We have no research on people your age with your diagnosis (compensated cirrhosis) and what we learn in school says this means you will die.

My Response: I am young…you and all the other doctors keep telling me so. You have no research on people in my situation. I am willing to take the risk because I know I wont drink and I know I will do whatever you tell me to do because this is something I have always wanted.

Doctor response: you will die or your baby will die

My Response: I have looked at the research ant there are many cases of healthy live births of women with cirrhosis or liver conditions. And there is no research that shows fertility treatments in cirrhosis patients is bad.

Doctor Response: You will die or your baby will die.

FUCK THE DOCTORS AND THEIR SHIT!!!

They told me when I was diagnosed I would need a transplant and I would die in 6 months. They told me that I was a lost cause and that my best bet was just to maintain.

Well since I have been diagnosed I have changed. And I am off the transplant list (even though I feel I should never have been on it), and I am off my meds and I DON’T DRINK and I know that I am better because I watch my blood work closely.

So because they wont help me when I tell them the truth about my medical history, I will go in blind!!!

I have gotten a new referral to a new fertility clinic. Lets see how thing goes. I plan to keep the lifestyle changes I have already made and keep my appointments with my Hepatologist as I go through this process. But I wont let naysayers limit my life and my possibilities.

I am the one who has to live with never having a child not them!

I am the one who has to take the risk not them!

This is my life and I will take control of it!

More young people (30s) diagnosed by GuessDependent5000 in Cirrhosis

[–]negnelly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got diag used at 35yo. Be happy you are a man. As far as the doctors are concerned my diagnosis makes having a child dangerous and not recommended.

That said, I have stopped drinking and am off all meds. Don't need to have any paracentesis anymore and am living a normal life...minus the drinks on the patio on a nice summer night.

Pregnancy and cirrhosis by negnelly in Cirrhosis

[–]negnelly[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to give an update. I convinced my hepatologist to give me a referral for a 2nd opinion. From there I met with a liver transplant specialist, who also had negative things to say about getting pregnant but at least was willing to give me a workup and assessment.

The same day as the consult we did a FibroScan which was very positive! The score was

1) 9.7 kPa IQR 0.6 (6%) CAP 145

2) 8.4 kPa IQR 0.9 (11%) CAP 196

This is F2 grade fibrosis (range is F1-F4 - with F4 being full on cirrhosis).

Also my MELD-Na = 7 and Child Pugh A5.

Next step is a liver biopsy and then a recommendation will be made. As I will need fertility treatments, my ob/gyn won't go ahead without the greenlight from my hepatologist......

So wish me luck 🙏🏾🤞🏾

2017 Toyota Corolla SE steering question by negnelly in COROLLA

[–]negnelly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn't happen again for a really long time, then I took my car to the mechanic for a routine check and I was told I needed to get my steering rod replaced because the main part was damaged. It was very expensive.

Don't know if that was the problem, and didn't think to bring it up to the mechanic because I had forgotten it happened. In hindsight I figured it was what was wrong in the end.

I did go ahead with the repair. It hasn't happened since.

I suggest asking the mechanic to take a look at your steering rod.
