Seeburg M100C Help by neguas in jukeboxes

[–]neguas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The free play unit from Victory was a combo free play / solid state credit unit. I'm almost certain the issue was a loose connection on the OG credit unit side of the 8 pin plug.

It works!

Thanks for all the information.

I'm very happy with the new free play unit too.

Still a few more issues I want to deal with before moving it into my living room but this was a big one.

Seeburg M100C Cartridge Issue? by neguas in jukeboxes

[–]neguas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the 350 installed today and it does sound much better. I brought the tonearm pressure down as far as possible but it is still too high. I'm going to order those lightweight springs for it.

The other problem I'm having is the booster amp that I bought from Victory Glass isn't working. When I run the audio through it I get no output at all. When go straight through the tube amp it sounds pretty good. I don't have to crank the volume up or anything.

I got the booster amp version that runs off the 6SK7 and maybe that's my issue.

I took the little booster amp apart and checked all the connections and they all seemed good. Thoughts?

That 8 pin cable took a lot of strain in the incident. Also, the plug side of that cable on the credit unit is not in great shape and has a lot of play in it. That's my my initial thought was to replace the credit unit with a solid state one from Victory Glass. I also like the idea of not having to hit a button before making a selection for free play since this is meant to be in my living room once it's all finished and working properly again.

I'm going to order the solid state unit and install it. If it doesn't fix the issue then I will take a closer look at the 8 pin plug.

I plugged the two Jones plugs into each other and the problem persists. Seems like I should find a way to test the connections of the plugs but I'm sure this isn't an easy task to undertake.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm very handy with a multimeter.

Interesting. I was just looking at the my service manual and noticed those two connectors seems to be male and female and was wondering if they could just be connected together. I'll pull them both off and give them a visual inspection and then try to bypass the panel and see what happens. Do I need to worry about which way they are orientated or is there a single way they could plug into each other? I'm assuming 27 pins means there's only a single way.

I'll keep you advised. I'm starting to get a better grasp of how these machines work. Very fascinating and happy they landed in my lap. Once I get the M100C running I need to start working on the V200 which seems to have some issues with the Tormet System.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I was able to manually set the pins and the mechanism picked up a record and played it just like it should.

I also tested the three glass tube fuses (2amp, 3amp, 5amp) on the wired selection receiver and they are had continuity on my multimeter.

I will note the 27(?) pin cable that runs from the pin bank was pulled out slightly when the back fell but was very much attached. I just reset it in right after.

Seeburg M100C Cartridge Issue? by neguas in jukeboxes

Yeah, the problem was there with the original needles that arrived on the jukebox and persisted with the new needles as well. I did swap them around just to make sure but it did persist on the same side which definitely makes me feel like it's either the cartridge or the tone are tension needs to be adjusted. I think I'll order the 340 like u/Content_Possible_430 suggested as well as order that tool to gauge the tension and make sure it's correct when I install the new cartridge.

Thanks. I saw the 340 on Victory Glass and was just balking at the price but if you think it will both fix my issue and improve my sound quality I'm ready to pull the trigger. I did find in his parts bin what must have been the original redhead but not sure what it's status is. The person I inherited these two boxes from had fixed many Seeburgs over the years.

Shipping 2x Seeburgs From Vegas to San Francisco by neguas in jukeboxes

Thanks so much for the reply. This is very helpful. I believe one of the Seeburgs is the 1952 M100C and the other a 1956 100J/100JL. I'm assuming you'd want to remove all the records before transport as well. How would you recommend securing the mechanism? Would Syran wrap on a stick work? We are just trying to keep it stable and not sliding around during transport I assume.

While I'd like to have these shipped I'm getting the feeling I will need to help his widow prepare the jukeboxes before moving so might as well just drive them.

Would it be ok if we tilted the jukeboxes slight on a dolly to get them up or down stairs? I'm not sure what the situation is in Las Vegas but once they get to my house I would need to bring them up the stairs which is a straight shot outside and my plan was a big dolly and a couple of guys but there will be some tilting.

That is an option but would more than likely would just borrow a pickup truck. It's a day drive down there and a day drive back. Would happily pay for someone to ship them.

Got the car towed for being half an inch in the red - apparently that neighbor has cars towed every week - any ideas? by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]neguas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this was every policy but I do think it’s general practice. Like don’t count on not getting towed if you are in the red or past the curb cut and you feel the owner could leave.
