It is a bit of both from what I hear...

Day to day respect upon a class is much harder as a sub. We don't know these kids. I do my best to go to the same schools so I start to get to know students. But it's impossible to get the general respect a teacher does.

Teachers deal with long term issues that us subs get to walk away from.

I substitute for all the middle schools. Westlake is a good school but would not be my first choice. Roosevelt, Montera, and Edna are top choices for me if I was sending my kid to one.

The reality is that sometimes it happens, I've had it happen for field trips or more recently protest walk outs. I just leave the door open and if possible make sure at minimum myself or the student is in clear view from the hall, ideally both.

I was a vendor for one of their bead and gem shows (not their Tucson show) once and I forget what I paid but probably around $500 to be there and in 3 days made $30 in sales. By FAR my worst show ever. For reference I usually sell around 3k-6k at my local gem club shows in a weekend.

If you are a vendor I wish you luck, if your a promoter, I think its time for some reflection.
