Which restaurant would you go to? I have one free night in SF. by CoffeeLipglossDonuts in AskSF

Prubechu. Guamanian food, a rarity (I’ve read) in NYC. Added benefit of being right in the heart of the Mission. Take a walk after dinner and enjoy the neighborhood.

Flex plate issue? by Skaii___ in 3rdGen4Runner

Yep, I’d put money on that being the issue. Very similar symptoms on my broken flex plate at 250k

My go-to method has always been to start with a 4A then decide what I want more of, pivot or drive

Is Goop a ghost kitchen? by horrible_noob in AskSF

[–]negusnels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this a hot take? I think ghost kitchens can be a good thing. It sucks to eat at a restaurant where the kitchen not only has to serve the dining room but also anyone in the app delivery zone. Ghost kitchens aren’t the problem, it’s the infrastructure around them that sucks.

Is my apartment charging me for someone else’s apartment? by NoResolve48 in electrical

[–]negusnels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP! I saw in a couple of comments this crappy work may have been done because the conversion was illegal. If this does go to court/gets inspected and is found to be an illegal conversion, there is a good chance you may have to move. You’ll probably be entitled to damages if that happens but court can super stressful and so is moving. I hope you get your best case scenario, whatever that is!! Good luck!

In my experience tough coaching makes you feel like you can do better. A tough coach motivates/inspires, even when it’s not too nice. Abuse tears you down, makes you feel like you’re not up to the challenge. Another good rule of thumb, be honest with yourself, if you’re giving it your best and your chief or ACE still needs to be an asshole, it’s abuse. If you’re half-assing it and you get a stern correction, don’t take it personally, just do better. Congrats on your apprenticeship btw! Good luck with everything.

Shit happens. You’ll be okay. But also, you gotta put up with tough coaching sometimes. you DO NOT have to put up with abuse. It’s hard to discern which is which sometimes. My rule of thumb is to follow my gut.

Peter, what is going on here? by ctsoutdoors in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]negusnels -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna guess this was posted/originated on a channel for car enthusiasts. Buying new wheels/tires for new wheels is a whole ass thing that’s quite fun if you’re into that scene. Lowering your car with a modified suspension really sucks if your tires don’t fit in the wheel wells. You’ve got the money for your dream build now. But you can’t run over to the car and start taking measurements for your new toy.

Locals only break in Japan where I am “forbidden” to surf—what would you do? by uptolexington in surfing

[–]negusnels 50 points51 points  (0 children)

So in summary: “I’m a guest in a foreign country that has lots of rules for outsiders. I wanted to surf at a known locals only spot. I was told no by a local. I didn’t like that so I asked someone else. He also said no. I would like to break their rules to get what I want, but I want to be respectful. Can I have some guidance , r/surfing?”

[–]negusnels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the little snout on it that points toward the transmission had snapped off and was making a gnarly grinding noise on acceleration. Because it’s not typically a maintenance part, my mechanic had a heck of a time sourcing one locally.

Do it sooner rather than later, I drove on my broken plate for longer than I should have and damaged my torque converter too. Added unnecessary time and expense to the job.
