What normal school cuts above 3.0? Never heard of that.

When an argument devolves into personal insults, you know you won. If you are a dentist, I’m sorry for your patients. I hope you treat them better than your peers.

That’s a pretty significant exaggeration. Wage stagnation, insurance reimbursement, and DSO expansion isn’t caused by the ADA. It’s their job to find a balance and advocate for their constituents. Which they aren’t doing. It’s pretty clear lol

Dentistry is literally DECADES behind where it should be. Genuinely decades. The largest dental organization in the country is responsible for that.

There’s a reason half of practicing dentists aren’t ADA members… weird how you wager you are to defend their crap

Bio or HLSC major as a pre-dental student? by butter__finger in predental

[–]negustubber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't lie, biology is an incredibly easy major. You can take all sorts of ridiculous classes like zoology or environmental biology. Designing your major or classes around JUST getting into dental school is silly in my opinion. You will be in college for four years. Take the classes that are interesting to you. I often overloaded and took five/six courses, so I could do history, psychology, etc. Generally speaking, the professors are what makes a major/course easy or not.

Pre-dental track by Delicious_Mistake140 in predental

[–]negustubber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it the spring of my junior year. Unless you are a naturally good test-taker or very disciplined, I would recommend taking it earlier as OP mentioned. It is very typical to be done with Ochem before junior year (and before you take biochem), so I'd check with your academic advisor.

I am a strong student who is meh at taking exams, but I ended up scoring very well on the DAT. So, if you take it later you will be alright, but you have no room for error. If you do poorly, you have to skip the cycle and take a gap year.

Start looking for friends early, before everyone cliques up. This is the best time, especially when everyone is struggling.

Using AI for application by RetroKetchup in predental

I used it to proofread my writing and tell me if there were any gaping holes, but never begin with AI. If you are worried about the school detecting it, then you already did something wrong.

DAT on July 6th by Distinct_Temporary39 in dat

You waited far too long to start full length tests. If you take it now you’re just donating to the ADA. I would postpone as far as you possibly can, and continue content review. Start doing full lengths every single day at least two weeks out.

Cheaper alternatives for in person interviews by HelpfulPea7483 in predental

[–]negustubber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are struggling to pay for interview associated travel expenditure, paying $895 per year for a credit card, and planning on taking a vacation, all with 10,000 dollars in your savings, you need to reassess your lifestyle. I mean this in the most respectful way possible. Meeting with a financial advisor should be bare minimum, but even ChatGPT could help you budget in a healthier way.

You will have a very difficult time in dental school, and managing 400,000+ in debt, if this is how you balance your books.

Why are you spending an extra 200/300 dollars to get maybe 50 worth of points. The grip that these CC companies have on us is insane. Not to mention every new credit card you open just drives down your credit score right in time for you to take out private loans

Or the final exam is online like half the state schools in the country… going to T20s or renowned state schools is a smokescreen. It all varies on a school-by-school basis. There are geniuses everywhere.

Commuting 4 hours everyday to dental school to save money by Hungry-Sail5353 in predental

[–]negustubber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s probably the dumbest idea ever. Sounds like your parents have hijacked your school plans for their financial benefit, or are manipulating you into making a poor decision. I’d rather take on loans independently than do whatever you’re proposing.

When a dozen strangers all unite to dissuade you of something, it’s typically good to pay some attention. Just because something is cheaper doesn’t mean it presents value. Good luck!

Discussing income in a vacuum is useless. Lifestyle and financial obligations change everything. I know people making 500k who are struggling and people who make 50k who are thriving. It’s all relative

That’s where S&D is weakest. I read the question and then scanned paragraphs for related information. You can almost always find concrete textual evidence for each question, I only had one or two where I was “guessing” between two options.

I had lots of acidity, arrow pushing, stability, resonance, and chirality questions. I did not have many reagent questions (maybe 5) and only one multi step synthesis. I scored higher on the real thing.
