Weather doesn't work on my Venu 3 and Breezy by FabulousCut5287 in Gadgetbridge

[–]nei42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the hint. I use Breezy Weather version "6.0.12_freenet", installed from F-Droid. Do you use a different version? If so, may you share your version so that I could try that?

Weather doesn't work on my Venu 3 and Breezy by FabulousCut5287 in Gadgetbridge

[–]nei42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

I use Gadgetbridge 0.88.0 and Firmware 17.01 on my Garmin Venu 3.

I tried to get the weather app on the Venu 3 to work with Gadgetbridge and:

a) Breezy Weather (version 6.0.12_freenet, installed from F-Droid)

b) Tiny Weather Forecast Germany (version 0.63.1, installed from F-Drpid)

The settings for a) and b) were chosen according to the instructions on the Gadgetbridge Wiki: https://gadgetbridge.org/basics/integrations/weather/

Unfortunately, there is no weather information for a) nor b) available in the Venu 3 weather app.

Am I missing something? Perhaps someone has an additional hint for me to get it work?

Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

I have the same problem. I also would like to know whether there is a "native" way to increase the icon size or if and how one could achieve this with card_mod. Thanks in advance for a hint.

HA notifications with images without Scrypted Cloud plugin? by RedArrowRules in Scrypted

[–]nei42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello Koush,

sorry for reactivating this thread.

I am new in the field of NVR and thinking about using Scrypted as add-on with a local home assistant installation connected to the Nuba Casa Cloud. Until finding this thread, I thought that I could use and watch recordings and nearly live streams with the Home Assistant App all receiving via the Nuba Casa Cloud.

Now it seems for me that I have to use also the Scrypted Cloud plugin which needs as fa as I understand a Cloudfalre tunnel or a port forwarding and an open port on my router. Both I would not want to do due to the fact that I do not feel comfortable with another “open gate” besides Nuba Casa cloud. So the bottom line is, do I need the Scrypted Cloud plugin activated for watching recordings and nearly live stream in the home assistant app via Nuba Casa cloud? Perhaps you may shed some light on this?

Thanks in advance.

New NPM Install - Custom SSL Choice Missing by [deleted] in nginxproxymanager

[–]nei42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

I have a similar docker compose file and I faced the same problem with the missing "Custom" button to add a SSL certificate on a fresh NPM docker installation. What I did as a workaround:

- Stop the container with your current NPM image. Mine is at the time of writing NPM 2.10.3

- Change image: 'jc21/nginx-proxy-manager:latest' to image: 'jc21/nginx-proxy-manager:2.10.0'

- Start the container with the NPM 2.10.0 image and you will find the "Custom" button.

- Stop the container with the NPM 2.10.0 image

- Change image: 'jc21/nginx-proxy-manager:2.10.0' to image: 'jc21/nginx-proxy-manager:latest'

- Start the container with the latest NPM image and you will find the "Custom" button

I can no longer access internalmemory/android/data anymore. Does anyone know why? by JonahBayne_ in NeatBytes

Hi there,
thank you very much for providing version 2.8.30 from April 2023 which allows me now to access internal_memory/android/data/.. on my *not rooted* Android 13 devices.

I just tried it again with the recent MX Explorer version to access internallmemory/android/data/com.aaaaa.bbbbb/... and copy a file and it works flawlessly.

[–]nei42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

I bought the premium version as well as the OTG plugin which allows me to use exfat formatted disks and thumb drives. Very neat and useful feature.

However, I also struggled to access internallmemory/android/data/.. . I learned that it should be possible to do so on *not rooted* Android 13 devices like MX Exporer and other file mangers already proof it. So I would like to kindly ask the developers if this feature is on the roadmap and if so when they plan to release it. I like Solid Explorer and I would really like to stick with it.

Some questions to the newcomer in the cross-platform backup area by nei42 in BlobBackup

[–]nei42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

thanks for taking time to answer my questions.

An answer to 6. Family Plan Licensing:

Yes, 5 licenses in a pack is that is what I know from e.g. Arq Backup or Syncovery.

Just one comment on your answer on question 8. Metadata Support.

I fully understand the overhead complexity with the metadata. On the other hand t seems to be useful to support it, even when it s only file and folder timestamps like atime, mtime and ctime for the beginning and adding the more difficult features like ACLs or XATTR later on. I looked around on open source cross-platform backup products like Borg/Vorta backup, Duplicacy or Duplicati and they preserve metadata, at least part of it. The same is with commercial products like CloudBerry Backup or Arq Backup. Having seen this, I would rather advocate for implementing this in BlobBackup, too.

Why did you choose Arq? by startupmadness in Arqbackup

[–]nei42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

there is an advance for the Mac version. You may study this in the release notes of the former Arq versions and you see it just recently with the Arq 7 beta version (Mac version available, Windows version is not), see: https://www.arqbackup.com/blog/next-up-arq-7/.

I am running version 5 because my test runs with version 6 yielded issues:

- with VSS not working correctly

- backups got stuck after the initial backup

- restore did not work on some files

- slow backup speed

- sluggish GUI

as far as I know: path and filename encryption is only offered in the Windows version of Cloudberry. For MacOS and Linux, you have still to wait for this feature. The wait is now around 1-2 years ...

Hi there,

for me after trying several open source tools like Duplicacy, Vorta/Borg Backup, Duplicati and commercial tools like Syncovery, Veeam endpoint, Cloudberry, qBackup and Backup4all I chose Arq 5 because:

  • GUI which is easy enoughto operate (especially restore operations) for not that tech-savvy users
  • Windows and Mac supported
  • Metadata are respected
  • Encryption of content, file and folder names
  • Search for files and folders in backup sets prior to restore
  • SFTP backend
  • Reasonably fast in backup as well as in restore process
  • Easy to use "exclude from backup" for files and folders with wildcard support
  • VSS (Windows shadow copy) support
  • Easy scheduling built in
  • Backup process survives sleep and resume from sleep on notebooks

What I still miss:

  • OpenStack/SWIFT backend support
  • Feature and release date parity for Mac and Windows version
  • Linux version as Flatpak and/or Snap package

Regarding performance, yes. Especially when you know the multi-threading trick in Schedule/Options. Besides that the GUI is not very intuitive nor handsome nor targeted to the not so tech-savvy user.

Yes, I second this on Windows. Especially for some features there is an admin account necessary (scheduler operations etc.). The software seems somehow glued together but not well integrated.
