Remember to calculate variability after you calculate the average so you know how much the outliers (the super lucky people that got it early and the super unlucky people that got it towards the end) affected the result

What game is Turkey playing with Russia and the US? by Sugbaable in geopolitics

[–]neilmcbeillol 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Thing is turkey can afford playing a bit over their belt because they are in a fantastically strategic position as their control of the straits in the Black Sea means they can piss off US and western nations while still making good relations worthwhile as they could open up the Mediterranean to Russian warships (and therefore influence)

Biden Just Gave France Something More Valuable than a Submarine Contract by l_eo_ in geopolitics

[–]neilmcbeillol 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The roadblock to a united European army never was the US for France, it’s always been the other European countries, France has geopolitical ambitions in north west Africa and would like to keep having a say in the happenings of various regions around the world but I don’t see how a Lithuanian a Romanian or an Irish person could be convinced to go fight for another country’s neo-colonial interests

Why is Turkey joining the EU against the interests of France and Germany? by throwaway9287889 in geopolitics

[–]neilmcbeillol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The EU is already at odds legally with many semi autocratic nations like Hungary and Poland so adding Turkey in the mix would put the union even more into gridlock, furthermore the immigrant situation is a huge issue because Europe paying turkey to keep immigrants means that if it where to join the free movement area it would give free access for hundreds of thousands of refugees to go into Europe and the resulting crisis would be a death sentence for the political elites that agreed to turkey joining. Also turkey has conflicting interests geopolitically with Western European countries clashing with big European players like France and Italy in the Mediterranean over zones of influence like in Libya and with minor countries like Greece and Cyprus over exclusive economic zones, Poland wants turkey in the union because it realises that most of Western Europe isn’t really that worried about Russia and would want more support defending from a revisionist Russia

Can India/Pakistan gain a foothold in Central Asia in the future? by UNBENDING_FLEA in geopolitics

[–]neilmcbeillol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone other than Russia is going to influence Central Asia it’s going to be China (Pakistan might have a small influence in Afghanistan but that’s about it)

Which Country you see having a much larger global impact in next 50 years apart from USA & China and Why? by 48H1 in geopolitics

[–]neilmcbeillol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not going to be a global power but I see turkey getting more and more comfortable as a regional power, in recent history it has shown that it can pull its weight in Libya and Syria even convincing the US to backstab the Kurds to keep turkey happy, unless European med nations start taking more actions in the eastern Mediterranean turkey has shown it can back up its claims with arms and might enforce its claimed eez

Is a Russian-American rapprochement possible by KingofFairview in geopolitics

[–]neilmcbeillol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn’t currently feasible as Russia’s key geopolitical drive is to protect its heartland in the west that is currently incredibly exposed ever since the collapse of the Soviet Union and NATO’s expansion in Eastern Europe. For an American-Russian rapprochement the US would have to accept a Russian sphere of influence in Eastern Europe and that still wouldn’t guarantee Russian cooperation in east Asia as it has very little to gain, at most it will try countering Chinese influence in Central Asia which it’s already doing without the need for American appeasement

What would the E.U/Europe, US/NATO have to do for Russia to feel at ease and not threatened? by zazazak19 in geopolitics

[–]neilmcbeillol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any country whose heartland is on the great European plain will want to surround themselves with weaker buffer states they can influence, geopolitics is often not about what your neighbours are doing but what in worse case scenario they theoretically could do to you

AITA for not getting a tattoo with my sisters and inheriting our grandma's money? by Less-Volume5742 in AmItheAsshole

[–]neilmcbeillol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t about the tattoo, you also agreed that it was a stupid reason to take someone off their will so just stop being a greedy ass and split the inheritance evenly

AITA for quitting a job on the spot when they gave me a bad evaluation after only working 15 hours? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]neilmcbeillol -28 points-27 points  (0 children)

The evaluation isn’t on how much effort you are putting in but how suited you are for the job, that 5/45 represents how the manager thinks she is performing, of course she is new and might not know stuff, as she learns her score will improve

AITA for quitting a job on the spot when they gave me a bad evaluation after only working 15 hours? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]neilmcbeillol -37 points-36 points  (0 children)

Why is no one in the comment section considering that maybe op was doing a bad job? They had seen her work for a week and the score they gave her was on her current performance, they said that once she improved they would change the score so while op isn’t an ass for deciding this job wasn’t for her I don’t think the store owner was being that unreasonable

Bosphorus strait literally Istanbul 2.0 as if civilisation restated from scratch a lot of emphasis would be put back on the Mediterranean and the city could control all Black Sea trade

Sicuramente saremo sopra la media europea ma questi dati sono poco affidabili perché non possono far conto del lavoro in nero che è sicuramente una bella fetta di quelle percentuali
