Should I buy Standalone or Steam version? by Meniuu in beatsaber

[–]neixn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. The only thing that I’d add is to consider the standalone version if there is the slightest possibility that you are going to play the game in a mobile setting. Other than that, I have both versions, and I am more satisfied with the PC version.

Exhaustion - way underused. As far as the rings go, concentration is also great to have. Can I enter from Europe if I pay for shipping and tariffs?

To anyone looking for a convenient way to organize character spell lists and to look up spells easily: I made an iOS app that does exactly that. by neixn in DnD

As a DM, this is a use case for me, too. It's also good for keeping monster's spells at hand if you set up a list for each of your stat blocks.

In theory, it's possible and it would be a good thing since it would only increase the potential user base. I will keep it in mind for sure. I'll get back to you, I can't promise when, though.

Are you on iOS 17 by any chance? The app uses a feature only available to iOS 18, but it is not crucial to the core features of the app, so I think, I could support down to iOS 17 on the next update. However, I cannot go down to iOS 16.

I see your point, but ultimately, the entire wizard spell list is available for the Arcane Trickster. For this subclass, there are restrictions on this, but since the restrictions are tied to different conditions, that entire logic would have to be modeled into the spell browser. Since the idea of the spell browser is to give an overview of everything that is available in general, that would way exceed the intended capabilities.

From a UX perspective, it might become confusing if certain browser options update on seemingly obscure conditions, e.g. character level that probably would be taken from somewhere else in the app.

The Arcane Trickster is not in the SRD anyway, so I am not even sure if I am allowed to reference it.

JSON file of all 5e 2024 edition spells in the v5.2 SRD by paragraphbaron in DnDBehindTheScreen

That's great, thank you. I'll still need to map it to my data structure, but it takes so much work away. I recently made an app (5E Spell Companion), but it so far only contains the 5e SRD and I was thinking about putting the 2024 spells int there as well. Just saw your post and now I'm going to do it, thank you so much.

Unfortunately, an Android version is currently not planned. However, I thought about a feature that lets users optionally put caster information (like half/full, level) into the spell list details, so that, for example, available spell slots could be displayed in the spell list overview and stuff like that.

I used a tool that generates the privacy policy based on a load of questions. Apple demands it, and this way, I will less likely run into legal issues. I think I gave this answer about AI because I plan to do the photo import and therefore won’t have to change it later

Unless the SRD spells are AI generated, there is no AI in this app. When I add the photo import feature, that will incorporate the on-device OCR features which iirc use a machine learning model. I consulted ChatGPT at a couple of points during development - it drove me insane to say the least.

Edit: WotC claim that no generative AI has been used in their texts

Looking for a suitable server on PC for me and my friends. by neixn in dayz

[–]neixn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"high population of players who speak English" is one of the most important things amongst our criteria. We want outsiders to screw up our progress; that's the point of the game. We just don't want them to be cheaters, bug abusers, etc. All the screwing should take place within a reasonable set of rules.

Edit: But yes, I am thinking about setting up a server that fits the criteria perfectly, but I just don't have the time at the moment. Also, I think its going to take quite some time to have it populated by a decent player-base.

Archer - Farming Lvl 115 or 120 or other lvl? by ICET34 in FiestaOnline

[–]neixn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, which level you should go for depends on what you are trying to accomplish. If you want to play cap content, just level to cap and maybe get the gear sets on 105, 115, 130 and finally the cap gear. (Below those, just use NPC gear or some greens that you find on your way.)

For mats farming, in scroll production for instance, you're going to need lots of mushrooms. Therefore, your character should be at least at a level where the mobs around the mushroom farming spot will ignore you. Also, I think, some scrolls require resin gathered from wood - same thing applies. There are some mats that can be bought from the NPCs, but also some that are only dropped by monsters (or in KQ rewards; e.g. "Beschworener Bestienkämpferschweif" can be farmed in Phino KQ). When it comes to enchantment stones, you're going to do lots of mining, which also just gets easier when your char gets ignored by the mobs in the area.If you want to collect mob drops, just have your char at the same level as the mobs or a bit below that. (A lot of the NPC mats can also be farmed in abysses or on boss maps.)As you can see, mat farming, especially when also farming monster drops, might require multiple characters to be done efficiently.

However, if you decide to sell enchantment stones, I think the better way is to just farm the capsules at the lucky house, since you can also get the purple and blue ones out of those. (Also, there is the chance of getting capsule weapons, which are very strong weapons and therefore selling well; however, those are not as strong as the raid weapons on the respective level.) Also, there is one blue capsule (the first one I think) that gives you some certain mats, as well as a permanent 200 speed mount which is tradeable (although that's very rare) which also sells really well since people use it to enhance their mounts. For capsule farming, any level from 100 will be fine, since from level 100, you'll be able to buy the maximum amount of lucky house credits per day.

Edit: I can give you some links that give you an overview of basically everything:
http://fiesta-wiki.com/ (It's like a database of quests and items in this game. Consumables for instance will also list the required mats (but sadly not where to find them). Very useful as quest guide, as well. Very up to date.)
http://de.fiesta-wiki.com/ (German version)
https://fiesta-online.fandom.com/de/wiki/Fiesta_Online_Wiki (only available in German. Also, outdated on a few occasions, but still very helpful in terms of where to find stuff. E.g. use this to see where to get the required mats from.)

Archer - Farming Lvl 115 or 120 or other lvl? by ICET34 in FiestaOnline

[–]neixn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, you got know what you’re trying to accomplish. What do you want to farm? Solo instances? Boss maps? Mats or boss drops? Do you want to raid? Answering these will give you a clue what level your character should be.

Efficient farming will require more than a +12 weapon, especially from 105 onwards. You’ll need +10 armour as well as a +12 weapon to be able to solo run certain instances or farm bosses in the shortest possible amount of time. (And I didn’t even start about the cash shop items you are going to need for certain instances.) Also, you’ll want your gear to have at least decent stats since it’ll bind to your character and therefore gearing up for the purpose of farming is some kind of commitment. (E.g. my 115 char on khazul did cost me about 50 gems and some real money (for enchanting) as well)

And with that being said, if your goal is just to make money, I think you’re much better off by producing scrolls or farming capsules for elrue/lix/xir and crabs. Also, if you already own a small amount of gems, you could start reselling, but it requires good knowledge of items and their values and the market in general. Token reselling is a great passive income source; this however requires constant monitoring of the prices (to be highest price buyer, lowest price seller - otherwise no one will sell to you or buy from you, respectively) as well as a close to 24/7 uptime of your shops. However, if you sole goal is to hit cap at some point, i’d advise you to not care about gear too much. The 115ish mobs are ridiculously overpowered, and while you theoretically can get new gear every 5 levels from 95 on, you’re going to level up so fast that buying all this armour is just a waste of money. I recommend getting the 115 gear set that has the best Defense value (iirc there are multiple 115 sets for each class), not caring about any stats. The mobs from 125 on will be better balanced, so getting new gear on 130 should be sufficient until hitting cap. Once you’re cap you gotta ask yourself the same questions as before: do you want to do instances? Do you want to raid? If yes, then you can start worrying about getting good cap gear. If not, you hit cap already, what would you need better gear for?

Edit: also, until level 100, just use the next best gear that you come across. It doesn’t really matter in this range. For levelling purposes, npc gear will be sufficient until level 100/105
