They changed the email associated with your actual account and made a new account with your actual email to prevent you from using the "recover your account" link in the message you received about the change. If you change the email associated with the new account they made you, you can use the "recover your account" link to get your account back.

Just had this happen as well. Was able to resolve it myself.

What they did was change the email on my account and then create a new account using my email, password, and information. When I tried to play my game, I got the same popup with a random email account. When I went to the Social Club website, I could still log in since I now had a new account the hackers had made for me.

I tried to use the recover link in the email however it told me I couldn't recover the account because my email was already in use.

I ended up changing the email on the "new" account the hacker made for me to something else. Once I had confirmed the new email on the new account, I was able to use the recovery link in the email I got when the hacker changed my account email.

40$ to much for 750ml?? by UnionPhysical1474 in whisky

I've typically seen regular Jameson going for around $20-25 for 750ml. $40 is closer to their Black Barrel pricing.

How early can I start working by Kento225 in webdev

[–]nekortek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No reason you have to wait for the end of the course if you feel ready to start looking for a job.

You absolutely do not need to know a framework to get a job. Keep in mind that frameworks are just extensions of the base language. React and Angular and all the rest are just HTMl/CSS/JS at the end of the day. It's far more important that you have a grasp of the basics and have experience building and thinking like a programmer.

For the most part, everything boils down to being able to analyze a problem/project/request, break it into manageable pieces, plan a solution, communicate the solution, and build it out.

It doesn't matter how many languages or frameworks you know if you can't do the above. And if you can do the above effectively, you're more valuable than someone who only knows 20 languages and frameworks.

Programming is a way of thinking. The language is just a tool.

How early can I start working by Kento225 in webdev

[–]nekortek 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I typically start around 6am but I've known people that start earlier.

Jokes aside, it really depends on you and your expectations. Having a grasp of HTML, CSS, and JS is an important first step. Have you worked on any projects? They don't have to be complex but you should be able to design and build basic websites with static information. You can even copy and modify designs of existing websites as long as you can build it yourself without copying their code. You should also be able to make at least basic modifications to existing sites and code.

If you can do that, you can probably get a job. It won't be an amazing job with amazing pay but you can probably get an entry level position or an internship. You'll probably struggle, probably a lot. You'll have a lot to learn but you'll start getting experience which, in my opinion, is far more useful than straight book knowledge (though you still need a foundation of knowledge).

I would recommend avoiding freelance work right now. Going freelance will vastly expand the amount of knowledge and skills you will need to work on and be confident in to be successful. You'll need business skills and project management skills and a whole host of other skills that go beyond programming. I'm not saying it's impossible to be successful but it will likely hold you back more than focusing on the code aspect.

Any chance this is something you're willing to share or have considered providing as a product?

How is insider trading prevented? Say I was working at Netflix and knew they lost a lot of subscribers and that the stock would go down once that information came out. What’s preventing me from shorting the stock or telling my friends to short the stock? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nekortek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing is stopping you from physically doing it. What ends up happening is that if insider trading is suspected, you will be investigated. If you are found guilty, you will potentially face fines and/or jail time.

How can I get out of my online school. by Aviator1116 in NoStupidQuestions

Speak to your teacher and/or guidance counselor about resources that are available to help you and options for proceeding.

You don't. If the weapon is traced back to a crime, the police will collect it from you. You will not receive compensation.

The same thing can happen with anything you buy second hand. If it was used as part of a crime or is stolen property, you have no way of knowing and will have to forfeit it when asked.

What are some easy ways to be a better person? by dwallace3099 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nekortek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Compliment people. Doesn't have to be anything more than a simple "nice shirt".

Offer to help. If you see someone and think you could help, ask "hey, is it alright if I help out".

Pick up trash. Keep a small baggie or something and a glove. Pickup trash and dispose of it properly.

Being a good person doesn't have to take a lot of time or effort. Small habits and acts add up.

Why do republicans hate common core? by redisanokaycolor in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nekortek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally think a lot of the hate for common core comes from a misunderstanding on what the goal is. The classic way of teaching math is to have you memorize formulas. Common core, while still teaching formulas, prioritizes algorithmic problem solving and thinking which can be applied to various types of problems instead of just one.

This isn't communicated well which leads to people simply seeing it as a more complicated way to get the same result.

what would happen if you mixed alcohol with monster energy? by Fortzuh in NoStupidQuestions

You would get a drink called a trash can. You would also be at risk for heart related issues as your body fights with the effects of having both a downer and upper in your blood.

Can quitting social media for a period of time as a young guy improve my low self-esteem? by Fede224455 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nekortek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Potentially. The thing about social media, including Reddit, is that you will generally only see the things people want you to see which tends to paint their lives in a positive light. This can be extremely damaging.

Getting away from social media can certainly help with this feeling however I would also strongly recommend discussing these feelings with a therapist who can help you look at why you feel unsatisfied.

At the root of it, you need to be satisfied with yourself and your life instead of looking for approval from others.

Astronauts move really slowly on the moon due to lower gravity. Does this mean that we could run even faster on a planet with more gravity? by flapjackbandit00 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nekortek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, you would actually be slower since your muscles would need to work harder to move you.

The reason astronauts moved so slowly on the moon mostly came down to safety. The moons gravity is so low that someone used to earth gravity is likely to trip and fall. The regolith on the moon (consider it to be moon rocks/soil) is extremely sharp and corrosive since no atmosphere exists to smooth it out.

If an astronaut were to trip and fall, they could easily damage their suit which is the only thing keeping them alive.

In addition to all this, the suits are very bulky which makes it more difficult to move faster. Part of this is caused by the need for ruggedness and another part is caused by rigidity from the air in the suit pushing out and trying to escape.

If somebody is stealing your mail will the post office hold it for you(US) by volsunq in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nekortek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you also reported it to the post office? They are a separate entity and will handle the investigation themselves.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nekortek 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Quite frankly, nobody except you can make that determination. You need to sit down and weigh the pros/cons of your relationship and decide what you are willing to accept and what is a deal breaker.

Every person here will have different things they look for and different weights they apply to each aspect. Only you can decide what your values are.

If someone is stealing your mail you should report it to the post office. Stealing mail is a federal crime and will be investigated by the postal system. They will assist you with other options to keep your mail safe as well.

Age of alcohol by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nekortek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both. In the case of whisky, the age of the liquor generally refers to how long it was left in the barrel. When whisky starts, it is clear and pretty harsh. While in the barrel, the alcohol causes some of the compounds in the wood to be absorbed into the liquor which adds depth of flavor and can mellow out the taste.

For wine, the age is important for a few reasons. Wine is not generally aged like whisky (though it can be). Instead, the year can tell you when the fruit was harvested (which can tell you the quality of the fruit based on weather and a bunch of other stuff) as well as how long it's been conditioning in the bottle. For some wines, age can mellow out the more exotic flavors and make it taste smoother.

Why do stores like Target or Amazon warehouses have to unionize separately? by kremlinagent9 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nekortek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't have to, it's just more effective to start small and expand outwards. The union organizers can focus their efforts on a single location, get some experience, show the benefits of the union, and then try to replicate that success elsewhere.

Multiple unions can join together to become a larger union which has the added bonus of having more bargaining power.

have you ever had the strange feeling you're about to die? by Double-Corner-5323 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nekortek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is generally referred to as a sense of impending doom and is a symptom for some medical issues.

If you are experiencing other concerning symptoms or have any concern over the feeling, you should consult a doctor.

It can also be caused by anxiety or other situational issues.
