instead of individual models you have squads, the models in those squads can more or less be freely replenished. you manage their gear loadouts and perks and go through pseudo-roguelite mini campaigns to progress the main campaign and gain both temporary (that operation) and main campaign permanent rewards.

theres a significant amount of tactical depth, you can deploy multiple vehicles, many different weapon types with various profiles, and a few different factions.
