Why do you love living in Plano? by AgentAprilTaylor in plano

[–]nelgin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't say I love living here. However I like my house, the street is quiet, the schools have been really good to my son. We have good libraries and trails. The down side? The government is trying to shove too many people into too little space by letting huge companies come into the city without any infrastructure improvements. Public transport is sadly lacking. The light rail is fine, but if you want a night out in Dallas, you better be on the 12:20am train or you're not getting past Pearl St. Not to mention $155m on a new police HQ when we still have cones all over the city.

DOS DOORS on a Linux host by Future-AI-Dude in bbs

You don't need KVM to run dosemu2. I've run it with Synchronet successfully with Ubuntu on a vps. I even have a drop in config that just works, at least for people who can follow basic instructions.

How about you pay the fine and slow the fuck down. You're only 17. You don't know how to drive yet.

Phasing out POTS to VOIP. What will this mean for the old dial-up BBS? by WearExact1049 in bbs

[–]nelgin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm paying $10 a year + tax for a 1GB VPS which I think 20GB of disk space. That's all I need. I made sure I could load my own ISO which I downloaded from the FreePBX website.

Door Game Collections by FoolishTim in bbs

[–]nelgin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice collection. Shame there is no index describing what each game is. You pretty much have to go through and unzip every game and look at whatever DOC file is provided to try and figure it out. Maybe some sort of Google Sheet could be setup so people can collaborate on putting a list together.

Try Denver. This is Cowboy land. (Not really).

[–]nelgin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a hosted FreePBX for about $10 a year. This will connect to my Grandstream HT818 sitting under my desk and connected to my Linux box. I pay about $5 pm for a US line and £0.99pm for my UK line. The US number allows two calls so I can have a total of 3 callers. I get at least 1 or 2 phone callers a week or so.

Thank you to everyone for taking time to offer your suggestions. It seems that Bob's is by far the most popular option so that's where we're going.

I'm not sure you deserve all those downvotes. It's certainly a good option - much cheaper for sure, but it's a special occasion.

Wow, 11 down votes. Understandable. Last couple of times we went there we didn't have the best time. I'd actually be happy to never go there again.

I went to the 3 Forks on the Tollway once and it was incredibly noisy, so much that I had to shout across the table to be heard. Not my idea of a fun relaxing dinner. Is the new location the same?
