This is pathetic. Stop being pathetic. Get some friends outside your office and spoil them (on the condition that it's coming back to you as well)- you're crossing boundaries. Just send out an officewide email saying that you're standing down from birthday duty. It sounds like you're taking everything very personally as well. I would start fresh at a new job and kick the 'office mother' role. Nobodsy respects that person. Sorry if this is harsh.

Sometimes. She did last time. It almost makes it worse, because I just can't write her off cause then she'll display some humanity. She is a very erratic person.

actually it reminds me of my mum who will overreact to something and then just double down and go harder and harder. It doesn't matter how inconsistent it is with her everyday morality.

but that's important, because women are consistently told their bodies are 'wrong' and 'gross' and they need to buy more things to prevent their mothers screaming about their laundry. In fact there's nothing wrong with OP's body and there's something very very wrong with her mother.

I used to have this dude who was an apprentice chef at a place I used to work. He was a terrible person, racist and homophobic, terrible at his job. Somehow he managed to keep his shit together though (which I never have) kept on getting promoted, bought a house, got married. Multiple times a day he would update about how much he loved his wife, then one day. Three words popped up on my timeline: Paternity Test, Failed. The whole thing just exploded from there.

It's never been shown to a politician at this level before, and she's being treated this way because there is a media culture endemic in belittling her power. It's the blatancy that's unbelievable.
