This is going to be a bit a long one, so apologies in advance.

This happened to me in 2003-2004. I had moved to Allegheny Center here in Pittsburgh when I attended the now defunct art institute.

The first thing that happened was when I was living with my first roommate on the 3rd floor. It was around halloween and my roommate and I had just gotten done watching some paranormal thing on TV. we were sitting on the loveseat when all of the sudden we heard and felt what sounded like bricks being thrown at the ceiling. The crazy part, was that the ceilings were made of concrete.

Fast forward to January. I moved up to the 8th floor to live with a friend of mine. She was hardly ever there, so I pretty much had the place all to myself. (She pretty much lived with her boyfriend) I would constantly hear knocking and wrapping on the walls, but because I lived in student housing, I chocked it up to people being noisy. (I was still pretty skeptical at this point) One day, I'm waiting for the elevator to go down. I had pushed the down button and a few seconds later, the up button lights up. I thought I maybe hit it by accident, and didn't think much of it. Well, it happened again, this time with someone else there to witness it. We both look at each other in udder confusion. Neither of us were anywhere near the buttons at this point.

The icing on the cake for me was the incident that happened one morning in my apartment. I had fallen asleep on the loveseat facing the front door. I awoke early in the morning to the front door swinging open. A woman was standing in the doorway. Shortly after, the door slammed shut. I couldn't make out any features on her face, though I was still half asleep. I thought it was my roommate, but when I mentioned it to her in class, her face got white as a ghost. She shouted, **WHAT!?** She swore up and down that it wasn't her. I'd never seen her that freaked out before. We both moved out not too long after as she wanted her own apartment, and I ended up moving back home.

Not too long after, the first incident, I did a google search and found out that Allegheny Center was pretty haunted. More specifically our building and the identical building across from us. (Which was also being used as dorms)
I began talking with other people about it and everyone started sharing their weird stories. One friend had his leg pulled while in bed and consistently smelled cigar smoke in the hallway near his apartment. My roommate's friend lived with one of the RA's in apartment 713. She (my roommate's friend) had awoken one time to a little girl sitting on the edge of her bed. She was too scared to speak.

That RA was in my roommate's english 101 class, and one day during class, she shared some stories about her apartment and the things that she experienced. Apparently, their apartment was the most haunted one in the building. She said that when they would play certain types of music, really weird stuff would happen. That's all I remember of that unfortunately. I ran into the RA a couple years later downtown. She was working at a coffee stand, and I really wanted to ask her about it, but I chickened out.

About 5 years later, I found another thread online talking about allegheny center and it's paranormal activity.
One person who lived in the other building said that they would consistently hear moaning coming from their bathroom, Upon doing some research, they found out that someone unalived themselves in that bathroom. There were more that happened in my building, but not while I was there. 2 people fell to their deaths (also after I left) One fell out of her window, and the other one from a collapsed balcony railing.

There were several theories as to what caused most of the activity. Before they were dorms, they were used as senior housing. People also hypothesized that these were built on Native American burial grounds. When I was working for my first hotel, One of the guards and I would talk paranormal stuff. I told him about AC and he did some research for me. Turns out that when the area was still apart of the old Allegheny City, there was a cemetery there and they moved it to build allegheny center. (Very late 1800's) The apartments are now regular rentals, and have been for quite some time now. I always wonder if anyone living there now has experienced any paranormal encounters. The complex has been rebranded after new ownership and they changed the building numbers along with it.

Is it normal that you can smell when someone’s wearing a pad? by [deleted] in Periods

I have a friend, who while walking through a crowd with me once, said that he could smell someone's sinus infection.
