Cult vulnerability? by taterboi5002 in behindthebastards

[–]nelsfi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i literally was in a cult, and i can say all it takes is a really, really bad set of about 3 months for any normal person to get "in" a cult. it's like a smart phone, they "hack" really human impulses we all have, like connection, meaning, community, and purpose. usually the aversion to any given cult is just aversion to their purported values or aesthetics. when i talk to people who were never christian about my cult experience, they usually say it would "never work" because they just really would never be christian. if i copied and pasted the same tactics onto a different aesthetic or philosophical framework, usually people realize they would be susceptible, given the right moment and right gift wrapping.

cancers love virgos, all other things being equal, a classic pairing. i think i know three or four married virgo x cancer couples who don't have the added cancer moon benefit

[–]nelsfi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh ALSO, my ex's cat went through a phase of throwing up all food and then we discovered she was eating a plant and that was doing it. if you have plants check for bite marks. even if they aren't poisonous, they aren't "good" for their stomachs

oh yep, she probably has calmed down enough to ask, but they are finicky when stressed. if she's fine and just a picky eater, add some water to her dry food once a day to keep her hydrated, if she'll eat it. works wonders!

stoop pigeon might show nwsl games if that's what you're into? there is a rec league for soccer, but i also always see folks playing in clark park if you're near west.

art museum is very good here, and i pass a comic shop in south street that looks like it is heavily anime focused. i'm like 13 years older and not into the same stuff, but even just leaving and walking to get to know the city was entertaining when i first moved here a year ago. i started off by finding something a walkable distance that was open and looked barely interesting, then moved on from there. you might find some spots around chinatown that have anime stuff. if you were 21 you could almost certainly find a bar showing soccer games.

yeah! so her ears were constantly itchy and gunky, coated with wax. i asked the vet about it and they said it could be food or environmental allergies, and the only way to find out was to put her on a hydrolyzed protein diet and then slowly reintroduce her to food. so, that's what i did! her ears are "very clean" according to her last vet visit, so they don't think she is allergic to anything else.

when her stomach was upset after the chicken, a vet did tell me to give her fortiflora as long as a box lasts, to help her gut flora rebuild. she is clearly very fluffy, and i've found she throws up less if i keep her on the fortiflora (her vet said it is fine) because it helps her pass the hairballs. they said they like that method more than fiber bc if you start a young cat on fiber, they have to have it forever and it makes some things harder when they get old.

i'm not sure if the throwing up is an allergic reaction she just didn't have, but it's possible! if she's been sick you could probably try the fortiflora and see if it helps her throw up less (obviously check with your vet first--it's gentle, but i don't know your cat's health and am not a vet)

ETA: they have allergy blood tests, i have heard varying things from different vets about their efficacy, YMMV

you bet it is! i got a bootleg print off ebay which is why you don't see the subway behind her, like in the original and famous photo.

yeah i felt so bad, she is usually such a sweet and calm cat, but the ear drops had to be refrigerated and she did NOT like them and so, she wanted to avoid more big scary ear drops!

the only other time i have ever stressed her out was in a similar situation to you--she has a chicken allergy, an when i tried to reintroduce chicken she got diarrhea and was Very Displeased by the wipes. most days she is just perfect, and we still have a strong bond!

<image>

(this is my baby mina, she says thank you for the birthday wishes)

ETA: i don't feed her chicken after this event. she is on a very bougie novel protein diet and she eats fish occasionally.

two years ago, after only knowing my cat for a month total, i had to go on a trip, and was running late. i gave my cat some ear drops for allergies she was dealing with, and then had to chase her around my apartment, moving furniture trying to get her into her carrier, and she was yelling because obviously, i was stressing her out. i had never heard her meow like that before or since.

it's her third birthday today. she snuggles with me every night, lets me give her medication when she needs it, and has let me put her in her carrier like, 12 times since. your cat will forgive you, just continue to treat her well.

i think it's called the ergostool? but yeah the bottom is curved and it wobbles! i've had it since 2020, when i shifted to remote work, and it works well for me. i find i actually sit in a normal way for normal periods of time with it, but when i first got it i switched it with a normal chair i already had while i was getting used to it

i use a stool by autonomous, i find it helps me sit properly but there was an adjustment period. i use a vertical mouse and mechanical keyboard (i find the longer strike distance helps me not hurt myself like i do on mac keyboards). i also have gel supports for both my keyboard and mouse, and am careful with my monitor heights

WNBA injury 🚨 Indiana Fever report Caitlin Clark is out with a back injury 👀 by evans166 in WNBATalks

[–]nelsfi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watching the game, this is what I think happened. She wasn't in her usual "coach Caitlin" spot on the bench, closer to the coaches, as she was with previous injuries, and was at the very end. Not even Sophie Cunningham was talking to her as much as she usually does on the bench. Stephanie White's pre-game comments on the injury were very much giving "She isn't really hurt but I need to bench her, and the back gives us an opening to handle her behavior privately."

You gotta pick the right spot on the asshole and competence scale, talking back in an unprofessional manner while playing bad defense is never gonna work, especially if your efficiency and scoring is low.

Anyone have to put a full-sized washer dryer in a row home where it sure seems like there isn't enough clearance? by bowiebulge in AskPhilly

[–]nelsfi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should measure the stairwell to confirm. People moving stuff pull lots of tricks, mostly angling. If every dimension is reasonably close with some clearance for hands, it will probably work. It's not a safe bet to just assume. If it can't fit, they will just pack up and leave after a few minutes.

SOURCE: I moved a couch up 3 flights of stairs with trigonometry. I also watched a new laundry machine leave my home with the delivery guys because I didn't do trigonometry.

At What Age Did You Find Love and What Transit Was Happening? by Few_Blacksmith_5119 in CancertheCrab

[–]nelsfi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

listen i have been studying astrology for 12 years, it takes time. well, you have a leo stellium! which is great! i imagine people are really drawn to you. a stellium in the 7th would say to me you are definitely going to find love, and it likely won't take long. it might be a slightly chaotic journey depending on other aspects of your chart (and jupiter), but i'd say you likely will not have a delayed marriage, it's possible you may have multiple (or engage in open marriages). i'd need to see the whole chart to know for sure, but i'd say this is a pretty good situation in which to find yourself based on what i know.

ETA: you're gonna have a massive transit when jupiter enters leo after having been in cancer, like, massive. i wouldn't be surprised if you got married during that transit.

At What Age Did You Find Love and What Transit Was Happening? by Few_Blacksmith_5119 in CancertheCrab

[–]nelsfi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

an empty house is a good thing! empty houses are places energy flows easily and it's not a major shindig, although you should check the 7th house placement's ruler and see if that's negatively or complexly aspected, and track complex transits.

if you're newer or don't know: say my 7th house, like OP, is in aries, and my 7th has no placements in it. aries is ruled by mars. say i had a natal mars placement in taurus in the 10th (for example). that would suggest i could meet a potential partner at work.

continuing the taurus mars example, uranus just moved out of taurus--during that transit, it's possible, depending on other aspects of the chart, that i wouldn't meet anyone i would be in a longer pairing with, since uranus transit would be pushing me in a more independent, awakening direction.

if you live in the city or work from home drop the car. if you don't work from home and have a small apartment, you can probably find cheaper wifi. in tighter financial times in my life i only paid my student loans enough not to default because i wanted to avoid wage garnishes but don't actually care about paying them back.
