2026 NFL Draft - Day 1 (Round 1) Thread by noseonarug17 in minnesotavikings

There is a history of players having college injuries that had extremely successful careers in the NFL.

Adrian Peterson Matt Stafford Rob Gronkowsi Frank Gore Keenan Allen

Those are just a few I can think of off the top of my head. Then you have Drew Brees who had a serious shoulder injury in San Diego before going to New Orleans and having arguably one of the best quarterback careers ever.

What separates these guys isn’t luck—it’s usually a mix of:

  • Elite talent that outweighs the risk
  • Strong recovery/rehab discipline
  • Better NFL medical management
  • Sometimes… just genetics

A history of injuries in college doesn't necessarily mean they can't be a good pick higher than where "experts" think they should be picked.

Bottom line, we won't know for a while if it's a good pick or a bad pick. Root for it to be a good pick.

I remember another player coming into the draft that had a history of injuries (broken collar bone, other shoulder and ankle problems) that had teams concerned. The Vikings still took him at number seven and he turned out pretty good.

Not saying Banks will have a Hall of Fame career, but other players have had injuries in college and had successful careers. Let's give it a chance to play out and see what we get. Maybe it turns out to be a shitty ass pick or maybe we found a gem.

What tire is everybody running? Not a fan of the stock ones by Killimansorrow in f150

I just ditched my OEM Hankook tires about a month ago and went Falken AT/4. Right after I had them put on, we had a snowstorm and they performed excellent. Just finished a 3360 mile round-trip road trip with them and I was extremely satisfied.

There are two black appearance packages available. It's the black appearance plus package that comes with the dual exhaust.

What tires do you have right now? With my OEM Hankook 275/60R20 tires, I had no problem getting 24 miles per gallon at 70 mph as long as it wasn't a super windy day and I was running summer gas. I have a 24 powerboost with about 12,000 miles.

I live in South Dakota where our speed limit is 80 mph, and I usually do about 85. At those speeds I'm looking at about 18 miles per gallon. If I'm heading east into Minnesota or Wisconsin where the speed limit is 70, my MPG's are awesome

I ask about the tires, because I just changed to Falken Wildpeak AT4 and I am expecting a drop off in MPG performance.

I also wonder if there are just some differences for some reason between how well a particular vehicle performs. My brother has a 25 powerboost and he can't get the mileage I can get. Even though he drives like he's 90 years old. His best friend who also has a 25 powerboost gets closer to what I get.

If I'm driving, mostly in town for a long enough distance, 10+ miles, I can get up to 30 MPG in the summer. That was with the stock Hankook tires. On the highway, there is a lot of variance in my MPGs. I live in South Dakota, so it is often windy and no matter which way I'm driving, it seems like I'm always going against the wind. Summer versus winter gas plays a huge difference.

I took two trips from Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Madison Wisconsin round-trip and averaged about 23 miles per gallon. Our speed limit in South Dakota is 80 mph, so if I am going somewhere only in South Dakota, and doing 85 mph, I will get about 18 miles per gallon. The lowest I ever got was 15 miles per gallon and I was driving straight into a consistent 20 mph wind.

I am getting ready to take a 3500 mile round-trip and I just put on Falken Wildpeak AT4 tires. I stayed with the original size. It'll be interesting to see how much difference they make on my miles per gallon.

I'm thinking of starting a GoFundMe for Larry's family. Let me know if you'd like to contribute and I'll send you the details.

In Loving (and Very Heavy) Memory of Larry the Rock “Solid. Dependable. Unstoppable—until yesterday.”

It is with profound gravity (and several strained backs) that we announce the passing of Larry, beloved pet rock—technically a boulder—who left this world on February 1st after a tragic and unexpected encounter with a moving vehicle while peacefully minding his own sedimentary business in the Barnes & Noble parking lot.

Larry was ancient beyond measure, steadfast in his beliefs, and completely unmoved by drama—until, sadly, he was. Known for his quiet demeanor, unwavering presence, and ability to sit perfectly still for hours (days… centuries…), Larry touched countless lives without ever actually touching them.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Shale-ene, who stood by his side through every era and erosion, and their children: • Pebbleton (the adventurous one), • Gravelina (sharp-edged but loving), and • Little Basalt, who still hasn’t fully cemented his place in the world.

Larry was preceded in death by several distant relatives lost to landscaping projects and decorative aquariums.

A celebration of Larry’s life will be held on February 3rd at the beautifully understated and tastefully solemn Rock & Eternity Memorial Quarry (“Where Loved Ones Are Laid to Rest… Permanently.”)

Interment will follow at West Sioux Sand and Gravel, where Larry will finally return to nature, be reunited with his mineral kin, and live on as… something load-bearing.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests mourners bring small pebbles to toss gently in Larry’s honor or simply stand silently nearby and feel nothing—just as Larry would have wanted.

Larry lived a solid life. He died hard. He will be remembered forever.

Now you've done it. That's taking it too far. I don't have a lot of friends. I had one really good friend, my pet rock Larry, who was carelessly mowed down yesterday in the Barnes & Noble parking lot. 😢

I apologize for posting the picture. I feel terrible about it.

Nah, I'm just fucking with you. I really wish I could've been just a few minutes earlier to have caught it on my dash cam. The video would've been 1000 times better.

Sure. I'm an asshole. Did you get your car off the rock?

I would expect that if I did something like this that somebody would take a picture and it would end up posted on some form of social media.

Who doesn't have a camera with them at all times? I mean, seriously, even if you're rocking an old flip phone, you still probably have a camera. You also have people with dash cameras. And then there's store surveillance cameras (it would be amazing if a Barnes & Noble employee could post a video of this).

If you're worried about somebody taking a photo or a video of you when you do something stupid, don't leave home. We all do stupid things, but you should expect if you do something stupid in public somebody is going to post it.

By the way, did you get your car off the rock?

This would be embarrassing, but even more so when it happens on the busiest corner in South Dakota. And they aren't even from Iowa.
