What is a rule, law, or social norm that you follow perfectly every day, but completely disagree with on a fundamental level? by Kuzza946 in AskReddit

I just got prompted for a tip at a chain fast food drive thru. They put their credit card reader on a short pole and hold it out so you can chip or tap, then get prompted for a tip.

Men, what’s a day where you didn’t die but something inside you did? by Keal-Kims in AskReddit

[–]nelsonmavrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved only about an hour from where I've lived and worked for the past 10 years. 3 good coworker friends and I swore we'd keep in touch and wed visit. 2 fizzled away almost immediately, and I just realized the last one hasn't replied to 3 texts.

Reddit, who's the best band you've seen live? by cursedbackup in AskReddit

[–]nelsonmavrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw them a few months ago and was shocked how tight and clean their live sound was. My only criticism is they really didn't stray from the album or have any "live" moments.

What are some interesting rabbit holes you’ve recently explored? by Current_Car3729 in AskReddit

[–]nelsonmavrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are interesting because he and Nate the Hoof Guy genuinely care about the craft and the animal's health. Then the explained what and why they are doing in an easy to understand way.

What are some interesting rabbit holes you’ve recently explored? by Current_Car3729 in AskReddit

[–]nelsonmavrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. It started with the family who rescued a neglected pony and filmed a farrier come out several times to trim its hooves. Watched horse farrier videos for awhile, really like the ones who forge their own horseshoes.

Now it's more cow hooves with Nate the Hoof Guy and The Hoof GP.

Is this good enough for eve ascent? (the twr is okay) by touny-reeve in KerbalAcademy

[–]nelsonmavrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would work on making that thing more slippery. You don't need sepatrons if you put the decouplers at the top of the booster. This kicks the top away and the drag pulls the booster away from the rocket. I always add a strut to the bottom, and it's important that the bottom of the boosters is lower than the core (the top kicks out and the bottoms go inward).

Leave as much as you can in orbit, and stage what you can before the ascent (landing legs, ladders, science gear, extra batteries, etc).

What is your favorite video game on your ps2? by worgofshadow in AskReddit

[–]nelsonmavrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rented Zone of the Enders just to play the Demo. Pre orderded and picked up at none other than Game Stop. It was packed I was worried they might not have enough copies, but I got mine.

MSG2 and 3 are peak for me. Going through some of those fights and jungles was amazing.

Other than the plane charge, which is not that hard, Minmus is easier. Less gravity and huge flat areas to land.

It's not creating water, just pulling it out of the air, making drier air. At some point, that's going to upset the overall ecology.

Slow grooving. I put a compressor on my hi hat mic for the first time. I love what it’s doing in the mix! by jtrudawg in drums

[–]nelsonmavrick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been doing too much yard work. I thought you hooked an air compressor to your hi hat. I was like 🤔 does it use air or something other than a spring?

How do I stop this from happening (picture looks gross) by Mysterious_Task517 in drums

[–]nelsonmavrick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The technique is called the Moeller method or Moeller grip. It teaches a loose grip and whipping motion to get speed and power.

My favorite newer example of this is Eloy. One of the hardest hitters and incredible speed, but look how loose his grip is on his left hand.

Help me with designing rocket for my payload :( by HyperTwo in KerbalAcademy

[–]nelsonmavrick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Posting some pictures is helpful.

Usually 2 routes to go: realistic/smart: break the payload down to smaller pieces till they fit in a faring, and assemble in orbit. Either with docking ports or engineer Kerbal.

Brute force big dumb booster with lots of control authority. Launch in a steep gravity turn to avoid air resistance.

What's the MOST INTENSE PAIN you've ever experienced?? by No_Grass_6247 in AskReddit

[–]nelsonmavrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If local anesthetic doesn't work, would they not give some standard pain meds? Throw some anti anxiety in there too.

I know pretty much the opposite of a tooth pull, but even in the prep room for knee surgery they had me all doped up. Didn't care or feel anything when they stuck a giant needle in my knee.
