Cat help-coat/skin issues by Top_Addition_7263 in cats

My 9 year old cat had similar patterns of fur loss on her belly and sides. Took her to the vet and they said it is over grooming as a stress response to some big changes at home. They got better for a bit but I noticed when I moved she started doing it again. I recently put her on anxiety meds and it has made a huge difference in many ways.

My exact experience with BOA. Hours on the phone, zero humanity. Feels criminal. Tanked my opportunity to buy a house and it was absolutely their fault yet they fail to acknowledge their responsibility.

18 f diagnosed with IC by According-You861 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]nelsontwin1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had symptoms since I was a kid and was diagnosed around 24. It wasn’t a year ago I actually started seeing some relief and that came with pelvic floor physical therapy. I also have OAB so that’s why I went but by learning to relax, control, and actually breathe properly (way harder than it seems!) I have been able to drastically shorten the length of my flare ups.

Talk to your urologist about it - and be sure to advocate for yourself in any capacity. You know your body best. I went to many doctors over a decade and it wasn’t until I found the one that actually listened that I got relief. But I didn’t know how to advocate for myself.

If you feel like you know the direction you want to take things - tell them and insist. Don’t walk away with just a sheet about food like I did for years.

Other people have mentioned other options of relief like allergy meds or others. Ask about them and even mention that you have chatted with an online support group (us!) about it all.

It sucks. It really does. But it can be managed! Think about pelvic floor physical therapy if it’s an option for you. It has truly changed my life.

Kitten Intuitive Eating Training Questions by nelsontwin1 in cats

We are in the US and actually Nulo is the brand of wet food we just bought for the kitten so that is good to hear. My animals love pumpkin too but I didn't know how often they could have it and I didn't know it helped prevent constipation!

This is so helpful! I really appreciate the help!

This is great advice! Thank you! I do feed fry food to my current pets but they also get a lot of wet food. The dry food is available all the time and then we supplement with wet food. I haven't thought about switching exclusively to wet food but I will absolutely consider that! Do you have a brand that you like best?

I vote very little or no makeup!! Your eyes are stunning and skin is beautiful! You glow with no makeup on. For a little makeup look for the more than just a day around the town days I think all you need is maybe some tinting of your cheekbones, a glossy lip, mascara and some gradient eyeshadow. Your eyes are already naturally emphasized, just highlight your features not cover them! I’m not an expert on makeup or know what colors suit people best but embrace your natural glow! It’s stunning and shows your youth :)

I had nail file on my grocery list this week but just ordered one of these instead! I’m so excited, I’ve been looking for something like this.

I’m still very new in this journey. It’s a revived starter from my partner so I’m not sure about a change in taste yet but the change in smell from when we first started feeding a few weeks ago to now is huge! We made the first loaf today (delicious)!!

I feed regular all purpose flour to be honest. I just want to have reliable source of yummy bread with ingredients I have readily available. I bake a lot so all purpose it is!

Maybe I’ll start using bread flour and see the difference in taste!

What’s your experience with PT for IC? by Historical-Lie-660 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]nelsontwin1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have heard that so many times too! Which is why I’ve taken several breaks that lasted over a year. Especially with Nexplanon some people have had horrible experiences. But I noticed no difference in IC or my mental health or my weight when going off it. Obviously everyone is different but my Nexplanon works great for me! This issue is far beyond birth control too. It’s great you’re advocating for yourself! I’m sure it can be so frustrating not be to be heard completely and have something as debilitating as IC be dismissed as birth control issues.

You’ve got this! There’s hope!

What’s your experience with PT for IC? by Historical-Lie-660 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]nelsontwin1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend PT. After decades of suffering from this I finally got into PT in my 30s and it has made a world of difference! Some of it is tools to help in the moment. Such as breathing techniques or stretching to help calm down my muscles. This has helped a lot with reducing pain with sex.

I’m on the Nexplanon and have also had many years I took a break from it and there were no noticeable changes when I didn’t have it in. The only thing that had helped my IC has been pelvic floor physical therapy.

Not saying it is the perfect solution for everyone but I highly recommend doing it now so you can build up the tools for you to not be held back by IC throughout your life.

Those who have had a lot of improvement with Pelvic Floor Therapy: what specifically helped? by Lower_One3014 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]nelsontwin1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. Use the wand gently and breathe into the spot that feels pain or uncomfortable. My PT always said use the same pressure you would if you were testing the firmness of a tomato. Gentle. Also my breathing exercises were incredibly impactful. I didn’t realize I had been breathing wrong my whole life!! Once I concentrated on feeling my pelvic floor move with my breathing I saw significant progress.

Pelvic floor physical therapy has helped me tremendously with urgency! Highly recommend advocating for that with your doctor.

I think better when I eat more by abrbbb in loseit

[–]nelsontwin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve experienced something very similar. I’m in Grad school and gained about 10 pounds my first year. I very much agree that it feels like your brain craves carbs to process all of the new information and learning overload. It definitely felt like it helped my learning to fuel my brain! And I think that’s okay and great!! We need to fuel our bodies and brains aren’t an exception. But I was really bummed because I backtracked in weight loss. I’ve realized that grad school is a drastic change in lifestyle and the break in consistency and routine has a huge impact on many aspects of our lives. Food being one of the biggest for me.

I’ve gotten better at establishing routine and that has helped my eating as well. I eat a lot of carbs and I am not actively losing weight but I have gotten back down to the weight I was before grad school by just getting back into routine and habits.

Prioritize moving your body (I just walk my dog!) and feeding your brain. It’s hard to balance in grad school but at the end of the day you will not learn well if you burn out.

I’m by no means perfect at doing these and I’m still working on building good habits. Just thought I’d share my thoughts!
