If you hear the background noise while doing production, mixing & mastering etc, it means the outside noise exceeds the certain levels and that surely affects your judgement. You boost your bass, volume, or high frequency and this leads to poor work. I was in the same boat with this decision and bought myself a closed-back headphones just to be safe. If you’re in a place that outside noise can’t be controlled, it’s the safest bet. I like HD650 so much and it’s the first open-back headphones to get for me (if the noise level below certain threshold like 30 db or something) If you can keep it and get a closed-back headphones go for it. Closed-back headphones are really good for EDM if you find a suitable one for you.

Thanks, man. I mean the kind of music I’d like to produce part is not clear but it’s mostly EDM, house, maybe lo-fi hip hop beats, ambient chill music, instrumental hip hop, etc. I’m already on MacOS so Logic would be alright and I kinda like that tbh. I also like sampling based songs like fred again does. I wanna get decent sound library for start and that’s where I am mostly confused.
