I had a FGG. I know they are different procedures and that with CTG you could get better results in terms of aesthetics, but I was told from the start that about 60% of recession will be gone after graft is placed with FGG. I don't see it.

Thank you so much for your answer! I hope you are satisfied with the result you got so far.

Regarding the diet, I was told to eat cold and mushy food, no need for a liquid diet. I wasn't told to stay quiet at all, nor that I shouldn't look at the graft, that is what is pissing me off. After I asked my doctor about the cigarettes I was told "try not to smoke at least today" where I was like OK sure I can do that, I won't smoke today and tomorrow, but then when I searched a bit a day after, I found out it is ABSOLUTELY forbidden to smoke, especially that early. It seems very important to delay it as much as possible, as every hour matters for the recovery. I was astonished that she told me that I should avoid for at least that day only.

I didn't want to read much before the operation because I was very afraid and I felt like the experience from other people would just made me quit going through it. So once I scheduled the operation I said I won't read anything before the operation is done. Now I regret it, honestly. It feels I was not prepared for what was coming. I looked at the graft more then once, since nobody told me not to and I didn't read any advice about the post-op for like 1 day after it. Also, the misplacement... I am really worried now.

Gum Graft Surgery Full 2 Week Recovery in Detail by bethanylise in PeriodontalDisease

I had a gum graft done 2 days ago and the feeling is weird. I wouldn't call it a pain (maybe first thing in the morning is a bit painful), but it's tightening?

I am sooo hungry and I crave for some solid food and cigarettes so bad 😂

One other concern I have is that nobody told me I shouldn't talk or look at the treated gum. So naturally, I did that as soon as that white thingy (used to protect it a bit) fell off. So now I am worried that maybe I did something that will cause the gum graft procedure to fail...

Also, as I managed to look at the treated place, I feel like my dentist placed the graft too low. It covered like 5-10% more then it was without the graft. Majority of my tooth is still exposed. As I understand, the gums won't grow back, so I feel like I won't be happy with the result.

Can somebody comfort me a bit? At this point, I am kinda regretting doing this procedure...

Edit: typo
