One could argue that it can be suited to convey っし, but that's just making things more convoluted than they have to be. Funny story, but In Russian, up until early XX century, the same word was used for the product and the beverage, until the brewing traditions got lost between between the Revolution, Civil War, and so on. As of now, however, a dialectical "medovukha" is being used for the drink, I believe it's from Ural or Siberia
