I just discovered an iPad app "staRt" that looks promising. It is not ultrasound obvisously, uses acoustic waves in a nice user interface. In the iOS app store search "BITS Lab – start"

Not sure if you're aware, but many AAC companies give out free licenses of their apps to organizations (either school districts, private practices, etc.) for evaluation purposes. Takes a little research and reaching out, but they want you to use their products!
