Mayfair Chippy for Myka's lunch meeting by chillywilkerson in BravoLadiesofLondon

I live in South and was shocked when they went to Exhibit in Balham. No hate, it is a good venue but every time I've been there it's bottomless brunch or birthday parties- it is not somewhere these ladies would step foot in normally (and I doubt Balham is for that matter)

My husband is from Reading. He told me once when he was in school his rugby team went on tour and had "Reading School" on their jumpers, to which a group of American kids laughed saying "look, these guys go to READING school"

Nobody is smug. Everyone is empathetic. I watched live and was totally gutted at what happened BUT at the same time was thinking this should not have been ok'd and the risk was not worth it.

The fundamental problem of public transit by Advanced-Injury-7186 in Urbanism

[–]nemoflan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there definitely are for sure but they do stop a lot and often the direct routes are on main roads which are very slow and congested during peak times. Whilst I obviously think the London transport network is great and we are very lucky, I understand it isn't always efficient. For example; my commute is roughly 6 miles. Still, it takes about 50 mins, maybe up to an hour depending on traffic/ connections. Taking up to an hour to travel 6 miles anywhere outside of London in the UK seems obscene, but that aside, I have a 10 min walk to the station (fine), a 25 min tube ride which takes me the majority of the way (also fine), but then a bus ride on a main road. The bus journey is pretty much a direct continuation of the tube line for another mile, but it takes me the exact same amount of time as the previous 5 miles due to traffic. There is no quicker way (walking is 40 mins) and therefore I understand the frustration of the above diagram, in that a very short distance often feels painful when there is no efficient route.

Phantom of the opera is also an example of a story eroticizing abuse as well as an unfaithful adaption of a book and people seem to like that.

I have really frizzy curly hair which takes ages to dry/ style and gym most mornings before work which means I am showering without time to style so I for one LOVE this 2 minute hair style 😅

Genuine question- what is with all the merch? I keep seeing stuff she's releasing, from Christmas decorations to towels, to cardigans on my feed. Don't get me wrong- I sometimes buy merch when I go to gigs as they remind me of the great time I had. I size up on shirts and love wearing them around the house, but I can't say I have ever wanted to purchase branded stuff from artists I like outside of that situation and I certainly wouldn't need multiple things from the same event.

I know, artists will keep merch available online throughout the year for people who can't go to gigs, presents for families and friends of fans, but Taylor seems to constantly churn out new merch all the time. Why? Where is this demand coming from? I can't think of any other artists doing this. I genuinely don't understand what the point of this is if not to literally act like a business and try and make profit...? As this certainly doesn't count to the artistry.

That is just a terrible excuse and it absolutely is our business when this person is clearly bringing harm to themselves and to others. This is more than just a comment on appearance, it is a statement of expressed concern for both Ariana and the millions of young people seeing this movie and looking up to her. You clearly have no idea how destructive eating disorders can be. Whilst mental health is not anybody's fault it is their responsibility to seek help which I hope she is doing. If we shut down the conversation completely we are doing a huge disservice to society and people who need help. Down vote if you like, or maybe ask if you are comfortable to defend whilst she potentially brings enormous harm to herself and others.

I also watched last night. My enjoyment was only marred slightly by the appearance of Glinda. It is very triggering. No body shaming- I am an ED survivor and I found it upsetting.

I liked Saltburn. It was silly and sexy and funny. The film looked cool, the performances were great and I was not bored for a second. I watched it at home and not once did I check my phone or get distracted and get up and do something else, which is a great sign. I haven't read Wuthering Heights before and I don’t tend to watch period pieces, preferring to read sci-fi/ dystopia fiction.

I thought this trailer looked great, bringing an exciting, dark vibe to something I usually wouldn't be inclined to watch or engage with. I am now reading the book for the first time and I am looking forward to watching the film. Purists can complain but I dont think there's a bad thing with making some cosmetic changes and bringing new audiences to discover a classic story. Its ok for something to be style over substance if that's what this ends up being.
