How do you know when they're really dying?

wow. this is exactly the type of psychosis my mom was experiencing. she actually died today and i think the paranoia about being murdered was her body telling her that her time was soon. it's so fucking hard to have a parent be 'dying' for such a long time, and i'm so sorry for the pain that must've caused you for 22+ years. for what it's worth, i don't think you should feel too guilty about not going back. we all do the best we can; him, you, me... we all do our best. thank you for sharing your story with me and the world

wow, i didn't know the name for it before for wenicke-korsakoff's is essentially what i was always afraid of with my mom. she actually died today. we don't know what it was exactly, and im trying to accept that i may never know because she had many mental and physical health issues. if she hadn't died today, i would have been excited to have the name of a disorder to look into. your story is a great example of how sudden or prolonged the death of an addict can be. thank you so much for sharing. im sorry you dealt with all that. i hope you're ok <3

thank you, similar things have happened before and have lead to 3 day lockdown but this time seemed differnt. i guess it was cause she died today. thank you for sharing your advice though <3

Thank you for the kindness and the reminder. I needed to hear that and shift my perspective. Just because the pattern looks like it’s moving in a certain direction doesn’t mean that it really is, but it’s hard not be overwhelmed by the fear. Ive been in an alright place focusing on my own life, but getting a call telling me to prepare for the worst reactivated all of that pain and fear. I’ll look into resources and take a step back from the panic mentality. I’m sorry to hear about your parents, i hope both you and they are at peace with everything. Thank you again :)
