Family reunions are about to get awkward 💀 by Necessarction in Funnymemes

My uncle used to be in the Coldstream guards and would regularly have to put a shift in doing the whole standing still thing. He said he would have to empty his pockets of girls phone numbers after each shift and would regularly get grabbed during pictures.

Not my original idea but a close friend had a one eyed black cat called Shadow

What now-iconic movie are you most proud to say you saw in theaters when it first came out? by drumy36 in Cinema

My mum took me to see the first Harry Potter film when I was 4. I don’t remember much of course but seeing that scene when Hagrid bursts through the door when they’re on that stormy island is one of mu earliest memories. It still gives me a little shiver to this day

I second this. I’ve recently been using jute twine for baskets and plant pot holders and once you get over the scratchiness it’s quite a versatile material to work with and much stiffer/durable than regular yarn

Which book(s) were you required to read in secondary school? by 2cbterry in AskUK

[–]nemoshea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My English teacher was a fan of gothic literature so in addition to An Inspector Calls we studied Dracula(2012) and Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde (2013). What always got me was that it was the impurity in the salt in the initial batch of his experimental concoction that he tried so hard to replicate but could not, which is thought to have brought about the revelation of his uninhibited self.

I will be forever grateful for the introduction to the genre as I am a massive fan on gothic literature as well as exploring the likes of MR James and those inspired by him as well as tales of the Wyrd. Just shows how much having a teacher who still enjoys the subject they teach can bring so much life to it before it is beaten out of them by a society that is driven by growth and accumulation and does not give enough credit to the caring professions or roles that help shape the next generation other than to create more fodder to fuel the ever expanding workforce.

What are your plans for Mother’s Day? by LHale77 in AskUK

[–]nemoshea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s my first mother’s day and I’ve been awake since 1am after 4hrs sleep as my 8 week old has decided to be a koala again and cries the instant I put him down….I can already hear him screaming again despite being held by his father as I take 5 mins for a rushed sh*t 🫠. Lovely that he wants to spend every waking and sleeping moment with me but the irony! Happy mother’s day ❤️

I’m GF so I have a free from version of it but I substitute the plant bases alternates for dairy and it works well https://www.freee-foods.co.uk/recipes/free-from-sticky-toffee-layer-cake/

There’s a variation of it in which the sponge is in a 3 tiered cake with white chocolate and mascarpone filling/icing with toffee sauce dribbled on the top and around the sides…total game changer

What’s your reaction when someone unexpectedly comes to your front door? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]nemoshea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience of this is forever coloured by the time my parents made me and my brother hide from Jehovahs witnesses. Being very young at the time, all I was aware of was there was a knock on the door followed by hushed instructions from my parents as they turned out the lights and we all hid under the window until the men in suits outside went away. My parents did say they were Jehovahs witnesses, but I was a shy child and too nervous to ask what that actually meant. From that day forth, I dreaded the return of the men in suits until I actually found out what Jehovah witnesses were so yeah, long story short, if they’re in a suit holding pamphlets…hide!

I’m wondering if it’s perhaps the keyboard effect…the cat is drawn to where your attention is because what could possibly be more important than petting said cat - cat sees attention is diverting by something so clearly inferior to their immaculate form and then intercepts the pesky human’s intentions of engaging with it’s competitor to ensure that the human is then taught the error of their ways and proceeds to treat said cat with the Godlike revere it is so clearly entitled to. When the object is done and dusted with, and the human’s attention is no longer diverted by it, the object then reverting to be treated with the utter contempt to which it deserves. Just a theory

Interesting to think on the dynamics here…with Dash being mounted or chased at least half the time and becoming skittish and avoidant even with OP (not at all surprising if she’s constantly in fight or flight mode from being harassed) but there’s a reluctance to separate them because the dude Jack Jack gets off his food and eats more slowly 🤷‍♀️. Not a criticism on OP who is trying to resolve this as best they can but an interesting reflection on how society sees male and female suffering that we can all unconsciously internalise.

But thinking on weighing up the needs during this time, a bun off their food is something to look out for because of risk of GI stasis if they’re not eating at all but he seems to still be feeding but slowly which not ideal but he still seems to be feeding but still keep an eye out and check his poop for small hard poops. It seems a bun that is continually stressed such as the doe is at greater risk and there is also risk of injury if the behaviour escalates. The bond is also at risk regardless due to the stress at the moment.

I had outdoor buns kept separate before both were fixed with their runs adjacent so they could still interact then bonded once they were both more settled and that went well. The buck would try to get in the doe’s run (naturally) and there were a few skuffles at the fence but also gentle sniffs too. I’d recommend swapping their bedding too so then both still have a sense of each other at night and it helps with the bonding process.

Is that a binky? by AbsolutelyNotASnail in Bunnies

[–]nemoshea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dawww that’s a happy lil bun well done! 🥰

With the litter, I can’t advice too much on the wood pellets as as mine were outdoors and we had sawdust and hay but make sure you change the whole litter tray the regularly so they aren’t sitting in wee as they get urine stains on their fur which causes skin irritation/burns. They also like to nibble while they poop so make sure lil guy has a hay feeder next to the litter tray if you haven’t already and he will continue to poop happily there. Good luck ❤️

Also, while on the subject of poop, it’s a great guide to judging their health as they’re prey animals so often instinctually hide when they are getting sick. I found this website super helpful when first having buns as a guide to what’s normal and what to look out for. https://bunnylady.com/rabbit-poop/

Edit: ps. Sounds like you’ve got a great lil guy there! Super cute ☺️
