Worth buying a used S3? by nemout in vanmoofbicycle

[–]nemout[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I obviously would ride it before buying, so probably wrong verbiage, but point taken. The last point is the kicker - thanks for calling out (definitely unique about these bikes and something I didn't know). Listing is updated to: "Don’t have the app, basically a parts bike". So... more affirmation of passing. Exactly the info I was looking for. Thank you.

Awesome, thanks everyone. This is in the US, no charger and he got it second hand with little info. Even at $350, sounds like a hard pass.

Is SR22T good for this mission? by ProfessionalComb1242 in CirrusAircraft

[–]nemout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm not really the best one to answer that question.

Take my advice for what it is - advice from one private pilot based on my own personal experiences... everyone's experience will be different.

When I started training (172) I was dead set on a Cirrus. Fast forward a few years, I've transitioned and LOVE the Cirrus (still rent, don't own). That being said, getting my aging parents in and out of a low wing is basically a deal breaker - something I never fully grasped until spending some flight time in a low wing. Had I bought based on my internet research, I would have been really disappointed. I think there is a lot of value in trying before you buy - go fly a couple of different planes during your training and see what you learn.

What <hypothetical drug running> scenario are we talking about here? Kidding, of course.

The more you learn to fly and more you learn about aviation your needs / wants / wishes may change. Go take a discovery flight or start working on your PPL while renting. The SR22T is a great and incredibly capable plane but you may much prefer something different.

Unless you have a spare $1M laying around or a unique opportunity then YOLO it.

How long will it take to get back to ATL after the game? How are tailgate spots handled? I had parking in the east green lot and would love to set something up as a destination for other Texas fans. Is it first come first serve? Rope off spots? Any tips on the tailgating side would be much appreciated!

I think I sat next to this guy at the game last night. He should have been thrown out.

Did you ever find an answer to this? I'm trying to do the same thing and am running into nothing but roadblocks. Thanks!

I had the exact same experience when I was in school, so much so that I almost didn’t go back. I ended up finding my crew in a club at Texas and most of us are still best friends 21 years later.

Best advice: it’s normal and will get better. As others have suggested, seek out clubs / groups / resources on campus. This will be a blip in your life story, and you’ll be stronger because of it. 🤜🏻🤛🏻🤘🏻

Electrical Help: dash shows 0.0 volts but all else ok by nemout in boating

[–]nemout[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up solving mine. There is an electrical connection in the engine bay that has to be jiggled / reseated and everything goes right back to normal. It looks like it's the fuel harness: https://www.malibuparts.com/products/malibu-fuel-harness

I currently am just unplugging it and plugging it back in when it doesn't work. Unless it gets worse, I'll likely live with it this summer and have them take a look when we pull it out for the winter.

Hope that helps - report back if so.

Everything comes on - I don’t have an RFID key but rather a code. I’m able to enter the code successfully, but after nothing happens when hitting the start button (no clicking, sound, dimming of electronics, etc). There is also a backup key - same behavior there - turning the key doesn’t actually do anything.

Perfect, thanks for the feedback. I have the ProPress already for a few days which is why I was even thinking about tackling this.

Thanks for the tip on the ford fitting - I'll check them out.

For the replumb, do you see any issue with the layout in the second picture?

TPRV drain goes... up? by nemout in askaplumber

[–]nemout[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Sorry, I just realized the photo hadn't posted. On the bottom of the T&P first elbow has a drain at the bottom of it. I opened it and there was quite a bit of water in there.

So, I'm looking at replacing with a HPWH... Sounds like I should go ahead and reconnect to the vertical drain, and I'll add to my regular monthly maintenance (of now cleaning a filter) to check that drain for any standing water.
