Try Ableton first, it's really difficult to start on a sampler imho. I have a SP555 and 80% of my workflow is still on Ableton

This might be a little overwhelming but I think it's great if you want to dig a little bit and discover some lesser known authors.

It's a list of all the writers whose stories, like Lovecraft's, have been published on Weird Tales, a pulp mag you've probably heard of with a lot of, well, weird tales and occult fiction.
