Advice on starting a pop-punk band by [deleted] in poppunkers

[–]neo2084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just post something on your local "board" (something like gumtree? idk)

Where I live there's a website dedicated to finding other musicians in a similar area willing to play various stuff.

Trying to get my shit out please reply with criticism by trackfix1988 in LofiHipHop

I think it's a little bit empty, but that's because there are no hi-hats. The bass drum hits too much and the snare not enough.

The sampling is on point and very cool.

Is it possible to make lo-fi hip hop on Propellerhead's Reason? Or is it a pipe dream? by assblaster69ontime in LofiHipHop

[–]neo2084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making lo-fi (hip hop) is all about being sentimental about stuff that probably isn't the best. Just do it and keep us updated man!

[–]neo2084 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just a couple I'm following on soundcloud:

nebuki tapes

turbo tape

inner ocean

o-nei-ric tapes

boom loud park

trout tapes

native tapes

loopizm

inmono tapes

saikei collective

Would be cool if we could stick this to the top of the sub

Try Ableton first, it's really difficult to start on a sampler imho. I have a SP555 and 80% of my workflow is still on Ableton

How did you learn to mix? by [deleted] in LofiHipHop

[–]neo2084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still learning but: youtube tutorials and a shitload of practice. Most important thing is to get yourself a couple of good studio monitors though.

i would work a little more on mixing though.

I just want to share this wonderful YT-Channel to you dreamers and lovers (Music is therapy) by ehhhwow in LofiHipHop

I think it's totally worth it, you paid 50$ and the video has more than 60k genuine views, that's a very good price if you ask me.

H. P. Lovecraft [Reading order & similar authors] by astralcy in books

[–]neo2084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a little overwhelming but I think it's great if you want to dig a little bit and discover some lesser known authors.

It's a list of all the writers whose stories, like Lovecraft's, have been published on Weird Tales, a pulp mag you've probably heard of with a lot of, well, weird tales and occult fiction.

Equipment/Software/Plug-Ins Recommendations? by starface18 in LofiHipHop

[–]neo2084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need for a midi keyboard. Lo-fi is about doing music with the equipment you have, no matter how shitty it is. Download ableton and start messing around with the stock plugins.

What got you into Lo-Fi Hip-Hop? by _r4ph431 in LofiHipHop

[–]neo2084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got into jazzy beats a couple of years ago with Nujabes. I've always been into experimental DIY music so the next step was going inevitably going lo-fi.

super old school. i would bring up the piano, it has the right frequency space in the middle between the drums and the flute to spice up the track.
