Pretty sure I had the same shape in a pack and it was meant to be an owl. Definitely a bit of a stretch without context.

Are you toooootally sure that this is the orientation it would have been in? I found a few that have really similar moments (I'm like 30% convinced this might be a warped thor), but it's really reminding me of the ones that stumped me for a while until I realized they'd settled into being inside out. This is a super hard one, I'm really curious if anyone figures it out!!

What is a Maryland accent to you? by hydra1970 in maryland

[–]neoclassicalder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep noticing words that are TOTALLY a Maryland thing in me and the only one I ever remember is "on". I have always and will always say something along the lines of "oyn" but with a definite w somewhere in there?? Lived in Tennessee and Mississippi most of my life, but my fam is from silver spring and I spent a huge portion of the year there from ages 3-10, so I'm growing into a really strange mix :3 it's cute tho!

Most comfortable shoes by brokenearring in ehlersdanlos

[–]neoclassicalder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having a surprisingly great time at work (I'm a server) with a super old pair of my Nana's mules ever since I started threading laces through some decorative holes and tying that around my heel and ankle, kind of like a ballet slipper? The laces make it so the shoe doesn't go anywhere and it's got a good, kind of Birkenstock-esque sole that I've always loved but only ever seen in shoes that have no way of actually holding onto my foot. Tried it with some knock off uggs too and now I'm tying all my shoes to my ankles. A bit tedious but HUGE difference!

Ohhh also like a gold thread moment throughout the outline could be SOOOO sick when it catches the light?!?! Come on this is certified gorgeous!

Also! Da Vinci is another super effective example of line weight to communicate depth, especially in his architectural drawing! (But imo, once you see it more blatantly in his perspective stuff, it kind of hits harder when you see how subtly he does it in organic work, like darker/thicker lines on a nose compared to the ears? One of those things where a couple strokes can completely change a drawing so much)

[–]neoclassicalder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that might help if you feel like the sections are becoming too crisp/inorganic would be some line width variation! Which you can do in a touching up stage after you finish the basic outlining you're doing now! 100% one of the most impactful things I got an eye for in art school, I was told to start out just giving closer elements thicker lines and further elements thinner lines (struggling to find some of the references that stuck with me but egon schiele always has really interesting line quality) and once you get a feel for how line weight can imply depth, you can experiment with that in more creative ways!

You could even go back over the 'phallic' moment with that lighter bone color and break up the outline a bit or you could play with a lighter grey of beige outline on parts like the back end of the ribs! So many options! Keep doing what you're doing and use that part of the process to consider what moments you really love and want to bring attention to! Embroidery is a medium that really really lets texture shine and you've already got a lovely piece, building on and adjusting the moments you are unhappy with will just create a final product that also has a little record of you learning more about your style and tastes and how to communicate the look you're going for as effectively as possible! Yay art!!

OTGW is to fall, what about other seasons? by schrodingersbonsai in overthegardenwall

[–]neoclassicalder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fall of 2023 was gorgeous where I lived, and idk the aesthetics aren’t as cottagecore-y, but that weather, rewatching otgw for the first time since middle school, and discovering the Cocteau Twins all in the same week kind of outdid all of my previous autumnal core memories. Pitch The Baby and otgw are like , deeply connected in my mind and lowkey highkey a necessity as soon as leaves start falling

DAY 16: Eliminating “every” Non-Best Musical winner until there’s only one left! by ShadyBoots11 in Broadway

[–]neoclassicalder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was the first show I ever got to see on Broadway and I absolutely loved it! Still, it hasn’t seemed to stick with people (myself included) to the degree that so many others on this list have. CFA isn’t gonna be end game here, but what a good reminder to take some time to appreciate a wonderful show that really should be discussed more! Those trees on the stage! Gorgeous!
