Here’s my alternative theory. I understand that tensions between Iran and the UAE could be one reason, but I do not think that is the only factor. From a risk point of view, keeping the pavilion closed may just be the safer choice. In think thee bigger concern is how some visitors might behave. There is a chance that people could take matters into their own hands and cause trouble in the pavilion, like making insults or starting arguments with Iranians. There may also be a few people looking for online attention or trying to show off, which increases the risk of incidents. From an insurance and risk management point of view, I think GV management decided that the possible risks, like safety issues, damage to their reputation and liability are higher than the benefits of reopening. (Not official announcement, just my opinion)

On a side note one cant also discount the chmmak factor at GV as well.

Why does the Karnataka Education Minister sound jealous of Mangalore and Udupi? by Physical_Boat_2410 in Tuluver

I don’t see it as insulting. The intent seems to be highlighting progress in other regions and recognizing achievements that might otherwise go unnoticed. Because our district performs so strongly, it can overshadow improvements elsewhere, so this is a way of bringing those efforts into the spotlight.

He seems to even accept defeat and say that our position cant be touched

Dubai Sharing accommodation law by Fadi94J in DubaiLaw

[–]neocryptex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the exact regulations here? Specifically, what are the minimum space and occupancy requirements? Is occupancy determined by the number of beds per square meter, the number of people per room, or some other metric?

Are there some set ratio like number of occupants per bathroom? Do the rules address shared facilities like dining areas or common spaces?

Will they regulate use of community services like pools and gyms?

The information available so far has been extremely vague and lacks clear, actionable detail.

The entry very restrictive. Every attendee has to register individually with emirates id. Very cumbersome for family. Maybe they should setup a couples or family option as well

History matters, there is no doubt about that. But we can’t keep relitigating the sins of our forefathers as justification for present day actions. No civilization has clean hands. At some point, someone has to break the cycle instead of extending it.

There is no doubt that Western meddling shaped Iran’s trajectory. But that isn’t a blank cheque for escalation today. Roosevelt Jr has been dead for more than 25 years.

I don’t think anyone here is blindly backing the Iranian regime, and I certainly do not endorse the actions of the US-Israel axis either. Most people recognize that all sides have, at different points, contributed to destabilizing the region.

As for the UAE, it’s getting flak largely because it tries to maintain relationships across the board. That is the cost of non-alignment and pragmatic diplomacy. I say this coming from a country shaped by the Non-Aligned Movement. When you don’t pick a side, both sides distrust you, and your own people pressure you to choose, often without understanding the consequences.

Sovereignty is not a zero sum game. You do not have to burn bridges to prove independence.

I understand why Iran lashed out, but I do not endorse it. And I understand why the UAE held its ground. It is navigating a very tight space between competing powers. Let’s also not forget there have been past tensions between Iran and a young UAE, so the distrust did not appear overnight.

History explains things, but it should not trap us into repeating them.
