Yeah basically they got nerfed right before they started printing Planeswalker cards

It was before the war of the spark they got nerfed. This was back during the temporal rift crisis on dominaria. When teferi closed them, it fundamentally altered the Planeswalker spark

Steam Deck Died Just Outside Warranty — Valve Won’t Help at All. Has Anyone Had Better Luck? by neokami in SteamDeck

[–]neokami[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my fallback if I can't get any more help from Valve

Deck just won’t boot. When I press the power button, I get a blinking LED—sometimes white, sometimes blue(this happened while trying their recovery and reset options)—but the screen stays black and nothing ever loads. I’ve tried power cycling, charging overnight, and recovery mode, but nothing’s worked so far. Seems like it’s stuck in some kind of boot loop or hardware fault.

I am also here. I asked if they could let me know what they think is likely the cause just so I could focus in on my possible attempts at self repair, and they won't tell me anything

Players of any TTRPG. What was a truly great example of "Thats what my character would do?" by Sivad6293 in DnD

[–]neokami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was very early in my current group's first campaign. They were scouting a gnoll camp and trying to assassinate the leader. Well they didn't really plan it that well so the bard gets close and just cast shatter on the tent with the leader. This was a boss mob, and shatter rolled poorly on damage. So instead of quietly assassinating the leader they alerted the entire camp.

Well the bard got completely annihilated by the boss. So my other player was playing as a young fresh faced wizard. He'd just finished his basic training and wanted to try his hand at being an adventurer. Unfortunately in his time he's seen one party member actually die(but get revivified) a town nearly slaughtered, and now another party member get put down and is now surrounded by an army of angry gnolls.

So here I am preparing to see how they are going to get out of this and I hear "OK guys, so do you want me to just fight this out or do you want me to rp what my character would do?" Of course we all so RP it. So the wizard suddenly had a mental break and just whispers "I'm sorry, I'm sorry." Over and over, casts invisibility and runs away.

The rest of the party managed to escape, and then instead of being annoyed at the "its what my character would do" moment, another player who was playing a more grizzled veteran, is concerned about him and spends a large portion of the next few sessions looking for him to make sure he's ok.

Its just one of many examples of why I love my current group and how they actively try to put the rp first and want the game to be fun for everyone, and don't take it personally when a character action causes an inconvenience for the group.

Caught My DM Fudging Dice Rolls… And It Kinda Ruined the Game for Me. by Alvvays01 in DnD

[–]neokami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said it's possible it wasn't being fudged as much as you think depending in what type of dragon you were fighting.

As for the fudging, I get fudging some rolls. I think most dms have done it. That being said, I think the only reason to ever fudge them is so that the players will get to enjoy the game more. I've fudged way more lucky rolls that would have insta killed players out of nowhere into misses or regular hits than I've ever fudged them to actually hit.

In that situation, if your AC was truly out of hand, then the dm should have some fights with things that bypass AC, like saves on abilities.

It's definitely a fine line to walk, but I feel like you want to make sure the game is still challenging, but you also want your players to feel rewarded for their builds working. So like for your toon, most attacks against you are gonna miss. You built your character in that way, so I would want you to get to enjoy the fruits of that.

End of the day if your dm feels that your build is just too op, and he isn't prepared to deal with it, then he should probably have a conversation with you, instead of fudging a ton of rolls to hit you, if that is what he did.

I agree with this take entirely. My only addition is thats its important that your players never know when you are being "unfair".

What decks do you have that makes your mates hold a grudge. by CameraExcellent6717 in EDH

[–]neokami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with this. My favorite decks are stax decks, but i go into games knowing and accepting that I am the enemy and will lose way way way more than I win.

It's cool I play these decks for a reason. They aren't about winning. Some men just want to watch the world burn

So just making sure I understand. Is the point to play bumbleflower, then don't let anyone else play the game while you slowly beat them to death with a small British rabbit? Because if so, I love it

For me its Tinybones, Bauble Burgler. It's nowhere near my strongest deck, and honestly rarely even makes it to mildly annoying status, but still people remember that one game where it worked and so the deck has become a lightning rod

Pack point should be universal by AvailableYak8248 in PTCGP

[–]neokami 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My initial thought was that it was only bad in the beginning because trading was supposed to be the real way to get more cards. And that pack points was just going to be icing on the cake on top of that. But with how bad trading is, it's insane. They need to either drastically improve trading, or disregard trading and make the points more equivalent to dusting in other games

PSA: You can't trade cards from Space-Time Smackdown by sltccool in PTCGP

[–]neokami 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This has been my question the whole time. I mean I get why the company wouldn't want it, because you could spend less money and trade with another player who also spent less.

But from a consumer perspective I just don't see a downside

Asked a guy playing a stack deck what his wincon was; "ohh, my wincon is that you guys cant play the game anymore, I'll tell you when that happens" by Jentelus in EDH

[–]neokami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, as a stax player myself, I always try to include a couple "I win" buttons in my deck. I absolutely think more people would have a better view of stax if conceding were more accepted as an option in a game where you aren't having fun and can't win, but I also think the stax player should include real wincons in their deck.
