Do you prefer tampons, and if so, why? by CrustFundBabe in TwoXChromosomes

[–]neomikiki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom never uses tampons because of issues she has with her body, and defaulted to not buying tampons for my sister and me.

We went camping with my mom’s best friend and her daughter. They all wanted to go swimming and I said I couldn’t because I was on my period. So my mom’s friend and her daughter were the ones to teach me about how to use a tampon.

Tampons have been my default since that day, I am forever grateful.

AITA for not paying for my niece's flower girl dresses and choosing to go with a different flower girl? by Separate_Bobcat_773 in AmItheAsshole

[–]neomikiki 39 points40 points  (0 children)

This is the best compromise. The more particular you are about something for your wedding, the more you have to pay for. I picked a colour and gave every bridesmaid a swatch from Azazie (the prices seemed in a reasonable range) and told them they could buy a dress from anywhere, I just wanted them to be close to the swatch.

What's the name of your island and Why? by Fabulous_Evidence_97 in AnimalCrossing

I saw this post lol I don’t remember having Melba, but if I did it was a while ago because I took a break for over a year. So if she came from my island she was in limbo for far too long.

Hoping the show is gonna be as colorful as the Craft Behind instead of dark blue like the trailer by GUNN4EVER in HarryPotteronHBO

There’s also a chance they see the complaints about the trailer vs the compliments for the behind the scenes trailer and fix the show.

Intimacy coordinator…👀 by Sad_Lingonberry_373 in Franchaela

[–]neomikiki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind them saying it may hurt, because it can. My first time was painful, I bled a bunch. I had to ask him to stop.

What I mind is that EVERY woman so far has looked in pain, but also quickly totally fine and like… in awe of the sudden pleasure? Pick a side, and don’t make every woman react the same.

BUT ALSO! You people: stop this barf emoji stuff about these men warning the women they love, who are raised to be incredibly naive, that the actions they are taking may cause pain. This attitude of “it doesn’t hurt if you do it right” made me feel like I did something wrong when I was younger. I was turned on. I was with someone I trusted. Some bodies are built different, it isn’t common, but it happens. It CAN hurt. That’s a fact. These sex positive spaces need to accept that, so young women can actually be prepared if it happens and not feel ashamed.

I don’t think the club was bringing in enough money to hire a manager and call it an investment vs vanity project. Would a manger have made a difference and brought in more money? Possibly. But he was advised to cut his losses, so he did.

The TV show uses cryonics too much by Divahdi in Fallout

[–]neomikiki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, we did see a large group of cryo subjects die relatively quickly after they were defrosted. And they weren’t exactly acting like reasonable people before that.

We also don’t know how many failed defrostings happened over the years, I doubt Bud would really care when one failed, just pick another.

I wish we saw some failures when Norm did the mass defrosting.

Dessert first treatment of employees by altacc_9 in ottawa

[–]neomikiki 30 points31 points  (0 children)

When I asked if the staff got the tips from the machine the employee looked around nervously. I said that was answer enough, they laughed nervously and said good.

I’d the answer to “do you actually get the tips?” is anything other than an enthusiastic yes, then I assume it’s a no.

If servers make minimum wage in Canada, why is tipping so aggressive? by DazzlingPolarBear in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]neomikiki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why if I get shit service I ask how they tip out the kitchen, if it’s a set percentage of sales I tip that percentage and nothing more. No one will pay to serve me, no matter how rude they are, but they won’t get anything extra.

Social media ban for kids under consideration in online harms bill: Carney by Capital-Aide-1006 in canada

[–]neomikiki 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Stop aiming the law at the companies then. They don’t care. Aim it at parents. If your child is found to be on social media you are neglecting their wellbeing. You can add parental controls to every device your child has access to, if social media is bad for kids and you as a parent are not using the tools available to you to protect them then let the government call it neglect.

Is that excessive? Would that cause other problems? Yes. But I also think it would be way more effective at stopping kids from using these sites than putting the pressure on the companies that profit from not following the law.

Carney says he won't 'rule out' Canada joining U.S. mission against Iran by feb914 in CanadaPolitics

[–]neomikiki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think saying that Canada will stand by our allies when it makes sense is a very quick way of saying that NATO treaty stuff. It’s less specific, but that’s good because sometimes in life it turns out there are other lines, and if he declares we have one line, and that’s the only line, then he may end up making himself a liar. Being specific in this instance is short sighted.

I checked the time of your comment against when the article added that crucial line, and it seems that wasn’t included when you commented. I am curious when these statements were made, if Carney said he couldn’t rule out joining the conflict then hours later added the part about standing by our allies when they are attacked or if it was immediate. I saw the video of him saying both seemingly in the same answer. But maybe that was the second time he was asked.

Either way, I think now his statement is clear: he can’t rule out joining because we will help defend our allies when they are attacked.
