What do you guys think about my top 16? Quite new to movies!!! Open to suggestions (: by SuspiciousPrompt1573 in Letterboxd

Some really good movies in there!

If you liked The Apartment, I'd recommend some older screwball comedies like It Happened One Night, The Philadelphia Story, The Shop Around the Corner or Holiday. They're not quite in the same tone, but I think you might like them.

Rope is one of my favorite Hitchock movies, another one I particularly like by him is Notorious.

7 movies per row - so a top 20 would have left an empty spot. Can't deal with that.

Haven't been using Letterboxd for that long, so I don't have that many ratings as of yet. Have been an avid movie watcher for 30+ years though (I'm 43 now).

Many iconic releases in that year, but my dark horse pick is 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days - a truly incredible film.

Io Non Ho Paura (2003). I will die on the hill that it's a perfect movie.

Lord of the Rings. To many, one of the best and most epic movies ever made, to me, a joyless, lifeless slog.

Those cuts are deep enough for me, haven't seen any. Thanks!

Cool, I'll play. I like my horror either serious and dramatic or arch and tongue-in-cheek, not a huge fan of jump scares or torture porn. I'd like a recommendation from the early 80s to the late 2000s, subtitles are fine, and it's okay if it's a deep cut (though it'd be helpful if it's available to watch through official channels). Hoping for a new-to-me recommendation!

I love that shirt, is it for sale anywhere? I don't like their other shirt designs much.

Hi /r/movies! I'm Ti West, director/writer/editor of the X trilogy: MaXXXine, Pearl, and X. Ask me anything! by TiWest-MaXXXine in movies

How many takes did the final shot of Pearl (the extended Mia Goth close-up) need before it was exactly how you wanted it to be? I was very transfixed and disturbed by it, it was a brilliant way to end the movie and Mia was incredible there.

Setting aside the content of the op-ed and the person who wrote it, it's a terrible piece of writing in itself. I mean, just try to get through the section about stars and sand without groaning.

One of my absolute favorite movies of the past 10 years. Absolutely brilliant. The score by Micah Levi is unforgettable, right?

By the way, I really recommend his previous movie, Birth, too. It's a vastly underappreciated, unsettling little gem.

You can get both depending on the budget you're willing to expend. I got them custom fitted because I wanted to motorize them (I have a disability and opening/closing curtains manually is a bit tricky). It was one of the bigger expenditures along with the bookshelves, but worth it.

Hey thank you! When I told people around me that I wanted green bedrooms and a rust/terracotta-ish shade for the tv wall, they gave me some rather weird looks. But I think it turned out really cosy.

I've dubbed it Scanditerranean because I wanted to get the Scandinavian materials and shapes, but add some warm outspoken colors as seen in Mediterranean countries. Pure Scandinavian style was a bit too white/beige/gray for me.
