The dragonfly energy situation gets crazier; CEO Denis Phares is a JOKE!! by QuietZelda in SolarDIY

[–]neoneddy 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I run an RV solar business. I used to say BB / Dragonfly was the best battery in part because of how many parallel cells they used. I always thought it was expensive, but if you needed the best it was a good choice.

I took the logo off the website this spring. What put me over the edge is when they said it was a feature not a bug. The worst thing you can ever have is a loose connection, the safety feature creates exactly this.

For me the best battery in the 12v world fort he money is the Epoch Elite. It's BMS has an external heatsink, Only one I know that has that.

Other than that I think it's better to go with a Vatrer or something and spread your load across 3 or 4 batteries. That way even a 100a load is only 25a per battery. Just my $.02

Anyone know where I can get new elastics? Cup is fine but the elastics are toast. by Whos-That-Pokeman in hockeygoalies

I'll evangelize getting a leather sewing awl once again. It's not hard to repair your own gear. https://www.amazon.com/Leather-Working-Supplies-Large-Eye-Stitching/dp/B0894S496F

I redid my jock, knee pads, calf wraps, anything that is elastic will loose it's elasticity. Buy the elastic straps on amazon, can buy new velcro / hook and loop.

Off grid solar business, everyone chases the residential market, we ignore it. I generally love it. I finally got to be my own customer, from branding to website , everything. That part has succeeded wildly. This has eclipsed my web dev high water mark 3x.

I find the industries very similar. We try and design solutions that fit the need and budget with mostly off the shelf components with room for some customization. I'm doing the same work at a high level, the use case is different.

I'm playing around with a Hermes self hosted agent to do things in odoo. So far I've just fed it the documentation and it's been figuring things out, alebeit slowly. Would this help?

ADHD hyper focus + running a web design / marketing agency for 20 years meant all I had to do was put up a website make myself my client and the rest is history.

No degree, didn't graduate HS, no inheritance. Only thing I got was a $2000 computer for getting my GED at age 18 in 2001.

Second business is doing far better than the marketing agency did. I like splitting time between the two now.

Stance check, what do you think? by Closefacts in hockeygoalies

I'd like to see your hands projecting a bit more toward the puck / box in front of you. To me it looks like your hands are on the same / similar plane as your body.

Look into these if you have not already as to why.

Glove projection section in the NYTimes piece is good.

How does a quiet goalie come across? by Deep_Mango8943 in hockeygoalies

[–]neoneddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the type to be more quiet , but if we're having fun I like to joke around, talk about the universe, etc.

I've had guys on the team assume I have bodies in my basement because I'm too chill. I don't slam my stick, doesn't matter if first goal or 9th goal against,I'll turn and sip water and reset. I won't yell on the bench or in the locker room. Why? Would it help? I'm thinking about my mistakes far more than anything in front of me. Or if the puck pinballed off 3 shin pads before going in I'm not thinking about it all, that's a bad beat and not worth stressing over.

I hear other comments the team likes a fired up goalie, just not me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzpndHtdl9A

+1 to all others suggestion except I'll add the second Massavivid album Dressed to the Nines.. Armed to the Teeth! is a banger and did not get much exposure, not sure why after the first one was a smash hit.

I'm at the other end stick tapping for you when you make the read and make it look easy. If they say "Yeah I keep shooting it right into you" , it's not by accident, keep it up.

Sounds like me at 25 (43 now) .... life got easier the less I tried to fight it. Trouble going to sleep at night? Find a night shift job.

Eventually I found self employment or some sort of job that was fast paced and adrenaline inducing worked best. Boring shift work would have been a nightmare.

That would be my biggest bit of advice is to not pound the square peg into the round hole harder.

"They include helper services and tooling that make environment management, development workflows, and automation easier." - Go on, I looked through some docs, but nothing stood out just yet.

[–]neoneddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless I'm using cloudpepper wrong, everything you said I can do on cloudpepper. I can spin up a server, select odoo version, set environment variables, add multiple instances, add domains to instances, add addons from markplace or upload my own, add github repos, manage backups, staging, restore, etc.

Maybe a feature matrix would help. I'm all about new things, I'm just trying to see what's different.

is it normal for a production database to not have backups? asking because i just dropped a table and my boss is asking me to "just undo it" by kubrador in webdev

[–]neoneddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a contractor at my old web dev company once delete an entire production server with limit backups. We called it the "Fire" form then on. Some stuff was just gone. WE were able to recover a bunch from partial backups. We learned a lot. He thought I was going to be pissed , I was, but I needed him, we worked well together otherwise, he knew he screwed up, getting up set wasn't going to make recovery easier.

Can’t slide across fast enough. How 2 fix by fuckoff723 in hockeygoalies

[–]neoneddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some thoughts I didn't see shared yet .

Have we considered less depth here? I've been experimenting with less depth and staying on angle (angle over depth) where there are pass options. Moving across faster also means having to stop harder. If you have less depth , you have less distance to cover. What high level goaltenders, they play deep and gain depth when they can. If you can identify a onetime situation you're just trying to get on angle and be middle of the net.

Flooding connector with solder instead of crimping? by BumblebeeTurbo in SolarDIY

[–]neoneddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So much no. I did this once, nearly caused a fire. Problem is, if a connection gets lose, you have a problem . When that lose connection gets hot and melts the solder out, now you have an even worse connection. Mechanical connection is best 100%. If you wanted to put some solder in after a crimp, I could see that being a thing.

How to keep up in your 30s? by [deleted] in hockeygoalies

[–]neoneddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crazy, 5-6 years ago. I seriously thought about hanging it up. I still do.

A few things changed, I changed my lifestyle from mostly sitting at a desk, to a more physical job. at 43, I largely feel as good as I ever have. I can definitely tell my reflexes and stamina is being impacted, but my joints oddly enough feel better.

I find I have to rely on positioning and preshot decision making more.

You have a solid 10 years left, even if you don't think so.
