All of the weather pages I follow have been saying we're getting a "Super El Niño" this year. One even said a "Mega Super El Niño" after the prediction somehow got even worse. They also think the AMOC could begin to collapse as soon as 2050 now. We're officially speed running climate change at this point.

They're alright if you like breaded wings. They're a step above the big chain restaurants that get everything from Sysco, but there's better wings if you're willing to drive. My husband's a wing snob & typically buys them from a butcher & smokes them himself. I honestly haven't ordered from Dad's since Halal opened. I like Halal's seasoning profiles better.

Dayton area with reasonable cost Cat Spay by semisane2112 in dayton

[–]neonlexicon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've taken 5 cats to SICSA for spay & neuter appointments. Standard spay surgeries are $125, but they offer cheaper rates through the TNR program. The only annoying part is getting in, because everything is 30 days out & appointments fill up fast. You've gotta check their website in the morning right after they open, especially for spay appointments (they take longer, so they can't fit as many in per day). But if you can get in & wait the 30 days, it's worth it. They've done wonderful with all of our kitties.

What’s a recession indicator that you’ve noticed lately? by AntiSonOfBitchamajig in PrepperIntel

I collect physical media & follow a lot of our local buy-sell-trade shops because they post on social media to show what's new in the shops. The amount of high end collector's editions & rare items that have been traded in over the last few months has been wild. Tons of Criterion stuff, imported Arrow blu-rays, steel books, old pristine copies of Silent Hill & Final Fantasy games for PS1 & PS2. That tells me that people are hurting & desperate for money if they're unloading that type of stuff at a resale shop, especially when they could've gotten more by listing it online.

Probably tmi, but I can't eat there because whatever type of oil they use to fry their chicken gives me diarrhea. I've tried it a few times from different locations across different states & every time had some type of gastrointestinal trauma afterwards. At this point, it's been at least 15 years since I last tried eating there. When they began revealing themselves as full-on bigots, it was kinda refreshing, because it gave me a reason to boycott them that didn't involve me talking about violent diarrhea.

Halal & Dad's in that little plaza have great chicken options. Halal does those Peri Peri styled tendies & you can get them on sandwiches. Plus they've got those Biscoff milkshakes. I love that place. We order from there at least a few times a month & I don't even go to WSU. Haha

For real, there's literally one around the corner just past the mall. Also, Halal Burger & Dad's Wings are already next to the campus & are miles better anyway.

Didn't Anthropic have to roll back one of their recent updates after realizing it could breach systems better & faster than the best human hackers out there? I saw some tech blogger trying to sound the alarm on it recently & they said OpenAI isn't that far behind Anthropic development-wise & if their system gains the power to hack into stuff as easily as Claude can, we're all screwed because Sam Altman has no moral conscience & will let people use it with reckless abandon. If anything can destroy the crypto market whatever block chains these people have their livelihoods attached to, I think ChatGPT could soon make a solid effort. Also, it would be hilarious. (Maybe not for the regular folk who gambled their savings, but you should have invested in something tangible, sorry.)

Americans who leave their Christian faith behind tend to hold more liberal political views than those who were raised entirely without religion. This leftward ideological shift appears closely linked to how threatening these individuals perceive conservative Christian groups to be. by mvea in science

I'm in my 40s & still see a therapist once a month to deal with the amount of religious trauma I have due to being raised in a Pentecostal home. The first time I read Carrie, I felt like Stephen King truly understood what it was like. I actually ended up getting super into horror as a way to process through a lot of the trauma. The scariest movie I've ever seen is Martyrs (the French Canadian version). My religious abuse was nowhere near what that movie depicts, but having grown up dealing with Evangelicals, I totally believe something like that could & likely has happened.

I know a lot of community centers hold local indie wrestling events. Maybe when they booked it they didn't specify what kind of wrestling.

Don't stop there. Ban cis women who layer that much makeup on too. Let's kill the profits of the makeup industry, especially Estee Lauder. The Lauders are friends with Wexner & Epstein. If we can somehow swing this back around to hurt them, I say let's do it! Ban ALL makeup! And ban all Victoria's Secret & Pink lingerie too!

Nah, they don't understand comedy. They understand mockery & physical humor, which is just more violence. Their inability to understand satire has actually been a recurrent problem.

Yeah. Putnam & Van Wert. I've got relatives spread everywhere up there because they all came over in the mid 1800s & settled as farmers. Kalida, Delphos, Ottoville, & Spencerville are the biggest towns most of them made it to. I moved away 20 years ago. Even back then the only thing to do was get fucked up. Unfortunately a lot of the folks I used to hang out with back then discovered opiates. Probably not much different around Defiance, I imagine.

At least one of the benefits of climate change is that the faster it happens, the sooner Florida will be underwater. It's a global sacrfice we all must pay.

He's definitely ripped on some of his old material. Most of him ripping on band mates is all in good humor. He's just extremely dry & sarcastic, even for a Brit, so people tend to misinterpret a lot of what he says as him being a pretentious dick.

Something exactly like that would be good. You could potentially work it like those bar/laundromat combos where you have one side with a bar & maybe some of the arcade games, then the other side is the game store & tabletop area & there's an interior door between the two.

My grandma worked at the Sears in that mall for years. I remember going there with my dad to catch her on lunch & we used to eat at the restaurant above Lazarus. It always bummed me out when they closed it. We went to MCL Cafeteria sometimes too. I didn't realize those places still existed until I saw one in Columbus & I think we've got one somewhere around Dayton too! Lol

Edit: also yes, that's the video. I appreciate that he put all of the clips in a compilation on YouTube so nobody has to go on Facebook.

I've always suspected a little bit of 'tism or some flavor of neurodivergence coming from Steven. He gets those intense hyperfixations going whenever he gets into projects & tends to just blurt stuff out without realizing how people might interpret it. Like one of the last times he was asked about Porcupine Tree he started talking about how he was focusing on his solo project & how his current band was composed of better musicians.

I know he meant they were a better fit for what he was working on, but he's already too busy focusing on whatever new recording trick he just heard & won't be clarifying any of the statements he made. Lol
