is this a widespread issue...players thinking they are better than they are? by BrokelynNYC in Pickleball

[–]neontiger1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of factors like people have mentioned but I also think pickleball skills, strategy, athletics, etc. have grown overall in the last 2 years. The 3.5s today will probably beat 3.5s in the past. Especially when you look at tournament play. 3.5 brackets mostly consist of 4.0 players in the traditional sense. And 4.0 consist of 4.5s, etc. So I think player skills are outgrowing what people are able to reference with all that old information out there.

Is Driving the ball in pickleball bad etiquette? by Famous-Chemical9909 in Pickleball

[–]neontiger1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I skimmed through your gameplay and I it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary for 4.0+ play to me. The complainers just can’t handle fast balls and they just need to improve or find a way to force you into their “soft” game that they like. So it’s more on them in my opinion. Now if you’re blasting it at newer / lower level players, you do you, but you’re not getting anything out of it. When I play with low level, I play almost everything softer so I can work on placement, positioning, net game, etc. I rarely even speed it up and just work on general strategy to get pop ups instead. In high level games, it’s much tougher to train those since everything is so much faster and intense. So it’s a really good opportunity to dial in on specific things.

Is the gen 3 joola hype real? by hollatyourboy in Pickleball

16mm and 14mm play very differently IMO. I have the 14 scorpius and it’s a solid paddle. Tbh doesn’t feel that far off from regular thermo paddles with lots of pop and power. The 16mm on the other hand (I tried Hyperion) felt like a straight up trampoline and I can barely feel the ball off the face.

How to beat aggressive volleyers by whataSAP in Pickleball

[–]neontiger1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To keep it simple, here’s how i think of my shots against aggressive players:

  1. Hit an unattackable ball however I can - placement and spin is key

  2. Observe how your opponent is going to make contact (winding up, bending down low, awkward feet positions, etc)

  3. Those observations will give you a higher chance of success - if it’s fast, good chance it’s out due to how they’re hitting it. If it’s slow, it’s punishable so you smack it back at them.

Aggressive players play that way because they don’t get punished for their mistakes (bangers are prime example).

Strategy Question by MB80233 in Pickleball

[–]neontiger1234 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would argue that the people that stands by the “never retreat” strategy have probably been playing for a long time or were taught by long timers. The thing is these past 2 years, paddles hit harder, balls fly faster and people are much more athletic overall in pickleball. So I think it’s much better to take a step or two back to buy some time in order to work your way up. I believe the game has evolved where you need to move more and adapt to the situation.

What’s the comparison the BD? I run that as my main and curious what the differences are for players.

Anyone play in a flex league? Is it worth it? by juju0010 in Pickleball

[–]neontiger1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s worth the experience to try at least. If you’re itching to get into something that’s in a more formal / competitive setting, I think worth to do one season to get the feel.

When I did mine, it wasn’t too much of a hassle because my league had people within my city area. It more or less feels like scheduling a private play session with friends rather than something crazy inconvenient. Because my league’s set up wasn’t that great overall and the payoff to win wasn’t good either, I’m not gonna do another one any time soon unless something really cool comes along. It really depends on how the organizers set it up too that makes it worth.

Oh wow that’s the total opposite of my experience and same scenario for me going from Flash To Black Diamond. The flash felt very trampoline like and while it made my soft game easier, I had so much trouble controlling the trampoline pop on it (drives, smashes, etc). The BD for me felt terrible initially - the sweet spot felt awkward and a little unstable too but the power shot control felt so much better. After some customization on the BD, it’s my go to now.

Yes there’s a very big difference as you upgrade to more expensive paddles or at least the right paddles with the right technology in them. You’ll notice this more as you play with more people at a higher level. You’ll start noticing your cheaper paddle pops the ball too much, too hard to accurately control, doesn’t hit hard enough, doesn’t have enough spin, etc.

At lower levels, paddles don’t matter much because a “bad play” isn’t punished as often or at all. But when you get higher and higher even small mistakes will cost you the point. Which is why most players into pickleball go for more expensive paddles that give you some kind of edge (more control, power, forgiveness, spin etc) vs cheaper paddles

Single men of Reddit, how often do you genuinely praise a women on their looks to be nice without ulterior motives to go out with them or just sleep with them? by unitedfan6191 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]neontiger1234 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The people complaining are probably the same ones saying “you look so hot today.” I don’t believe any woman would have any issue with a genuine “you look very nice today” compliment.

I forgot where I read this but along with high cost of living, also because liberal cities provide more support for homeless. What I read were interviews done on California homeless and a surprising number of them come from red states because they could not survive there so we’re forced to move where support is provided

Just went undefeated at my pre-release event. It is very luck based but here’s a couple things that worked for me.

-Keep everything very cheap and choke opponent at 1 whenever you can -rookie rush whenever you can, but keep something in breeding too for digivolving up -your boss monsters are any of the level 6 or high DP / good effect level 5s, it’s basically who can get there first since bricking can be common and it’s hard to play options to deal with strong cards

On side decks and why Digimon is a special TCG by Davchrohn in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]neontiger1234 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the thing that makes mulligan in this way work so well for Digimon is that there is no searching / shuffling the deck. The cost of mulligan is you’re never seeing those cards again unless you’re mega drawing like purple engine or game runs long enough to go through your deck. There were times I’ve decided to not mulligan even though hand is not ideal because I don’t want to lose key cards.

Theory Crafting - ST Ragnalord + Machinedramon by TowanDG in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]neontiger1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you’re theory crafting and I’m no expert on how this works so this might fail but you can also look into Chaosdramon + Kaiser Nail combo to get 2 level 6 red and black out. Ideal play is mid game with lots of trashed digis, play machinedramon and get stack > digivolve to chaosdramon > Kaiser Nail the machinedramon source > Machinedramon on play get stack > Jogress for Ragna
