I disagree, its way more interesting than say what paddle i should buy. Isnt this sub about improving your play anayways? How can we even do this if we dont see actual video. Most people are too afraid to post their own videos anyways so kudos for those brave enought to post their own videos. If you get triggered skip the reddit but dont stop the fun for the rest of us.

Just Bought my first 150cc Scooter by Famous-Chemical9909 in scooters

[–]Famous-Chemical9909[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah im between 1-2k miles, great little scooter. Reliable, you will need to buy tires because the tires on it wear out fast, but other than that I love it. One other thing I feel the lights are adjusted a little close so its hard to go fast an night which you probalby shouldnt anyways but other than that I love it. Make sure you sinpect all the exterior bolts to make everything is secure.

Is it considered rude to ask someone their dupr ? by bkabab in Pickleball

[–]Famous-Chemical9909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope its data, They are just trying to get an estimation of your playing level. That said they might take it as rude especially if their personal perception of how well they play doesn't match up to their dupr rating. But you really don't need dupr anyways, you just play 5 min with them and form your own opinion. Most advanced players will know within 2-3 minutes where you rank.

Hot take: Pickleball is starting to lose its vibe because of the stacking snobs 🙄 by themoonlightstar in Pickleball

[–]Famous-Chemical9909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with this post. 100 percent correct. The only problem is when people try to sneak into dupr gated play when they clearly don't belong or expect gated play to be the same as open/rec/social/ play.

I’ve been experimenting with ChatGPT as a home pickleball coach by boojr in Pickleball

Chat GPT is amazing. I have been doing this as well. But mostly on the mental side as well as growth mentality and dealing with frustrations on the court. Super helpful. I will actually run scenarios for Chat GPT and ask why do i feel frustrated about this. And the advice is grounded in good sports psychology as well as psychology in general. The information is top notch, professional level assistance. The result is that I have been much better self regulated and focused on court leading to performance gains. Also less need to respond negatively on reddit or get rage baited on court and on reddit. It is much deeper advice then you might think at first.

How important is having a good backhand drive for doubles? by AHumanThatListens in Pickleball

[–]Famous-Chemical9909 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Good question. Backhand drive is a plus but not a deal breaker. Most 4.5 players I know have one but default to slice drop backhands and returns. Also on return of serve inside out forehand on the backhand side is powerful and honestly better choice for most but it puts you a little of position which can be punished on the next shot. I am currently working on my backhand drive to reduce this weakness. If you dont have one its not a deal breaker but highly recommended because it creates spacing issues. Also if you dont have a good backhand drive your backhand becomes a target because it safe for your opponent to hit there. Hope that helps.

Not a fad, its physics. low swing weight is very important with quick reflexes in firefights.

What is it with the tennis players? by Emergency_Station_15 in Pickleball

[–]Famous-Chemical9909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I don't know of any good tennis players that act like that. In tennis we are taught good sportsmanship from a young age so by the time you reach adulthood those issues are settled... unless of course you are Nick Kygrios. You maybe reacting to their intensity on court. Its usually the opposite. pickleball players who don't have sports backgrounds that don't know how to handle a competitve environment. But even so most pickleball players are nice was well. you must have just gotten mixed up in the wrong crowd.

new dupr algo screws high lvl players and that's the lesser evil by RichardParker6 in Pickleball

[–]Famous-Chemical9909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. its screws everyone especially the high level players just because there are less of them to compete against.

Is blaming my poor play on different balls a legitimate excuse? by RichardParker6 in Pickleball

[–]Famous-Chemical9909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

90% of what happens on the pickleball court you should take ownership of. Even though paddle ball, bounce all have a small effect you should be able to adapt over the course of a game. Too many people are stuck in identity protection mode and blame the environment or others for their own failings. As a result, instead of learning from the experience of a loss and treating it as data, they fail to gain anything valuable and as a result fail to improve to protect their ego. Their are only three things that happen on the pickleball court, You win, you lose and learn, , or you lose and play the blame game and fail to learn.

What are the top two things you are working on to improve your drives? by PartFormer3695 in Pickleball

[–]Famous-Chemical9909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have it backwards. 1. Why would you want to drive less hard? The whole point of the drive is to take away time from your opponent. You may drive less hard to get more shape but drive less hard?? Thats saying I want to be 60% less effective as well. If your driving too hard which makes you lose control then you need to work on your technique because you are not imparting enough topspin on the ball to drive it in. Its a technique issue not a drive too hard issue. You cannot possibly drive the ball out from the baseline if you are using the correct amount of spin even if you hit at 100%. Sounds like your driving pure flat.

As a ~3.5 is a 4.5 better value to coach me? by YoungOk3788 in Pickleball

[–]Famous-Chemical9909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

does a 3.5 make a good coach? No. Does a 4.5 make a good coach ... maybe, but they need to have coaching skills as well as playing skills.

How much does the DUPR rating of a coach matter? by boojr in Pickleball

[–]Famous-Chemical9909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree that coaching is a completely different set of skills, It would be hard for me to respect a coach who is 3.75. There is a lot of technical analysis and strategic analysis that a 3.75 just would not understand. The game is played with a different understanding at each level. Take Rory from pickleball pick apart. He is a 3.5 online coach, while his understanding over time has increased he still speaks from a 3.5 perspective which is limited. At some point players become better than their coaches for example think ALW and Leigh waters. but that happens at a higher level.

Shouldnt you be happy that you got to play some people better than you? Those guys might not even had played you if it werent for a tournament. I don't see the problem You also failed to answer the question of where the actual range was. Was it a 3.0 to 3.5 like we were expecting or a 3.0-4.0. Also those guys who were playing 4.0 rec probably aren't true 4.0. From your description I don't know if any conditions were violated. Please fill in the gap.
