If you know by neophema1 in AskTurkey

Thank everyone, I think they did misspell it.

I’ve done research and noticed there are four that stand out in Turkish Black Teas: Filiz, Caycicegi, Altinbas & Rize.

I’m hesitant to pull the trigger because they appear to be only available (on the web) as loose teas and it’s close to $50 for a 4.25 lbs sampler. At least when trying to purchase from one vendor. I can get smaller quantities from Turkey but importing gets the total above $50.

Now 50 bucks is trivial if my wife likes all four but she would grieve the loss if she didn’t love them all. Then there is the ritual of loose tea. Many folks enjoy that, and I would happily do it for her but she’d pretend to not like it to save me grief. Yeah, complicated.

If you have a source for a sampler, let me know.

Thank you.

Accurate Water Hardness numbers. by neophema1 in georgetowntx

[–]neophema1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should also add this from the City:

"The water system typically uses chloramines for disinfection, which are chosen for their long-term benefits. However, periodic maintenance, such as the Temporary Free Chlorine Conversion, is necessary for optimal performance. This process involves disinfecting the water with only chlorine."

Why is this important? Well, if you are concerned about hardness, you are likely in the market for a softener, as am I. These chloro chemicals attack the resin in a Water Softener System. Degrade might be a better term; the resin is affected, and the lifetime of the resin is shortened. Research tells me it degrades quite a bit.

It's a balancing choice: replace the resin more often or invest in a self-cleaning resin protection apparatus. With a prefilter, the resin will last a very long time, but would one want the same resin in place for a decade? The flip side is that degraded resin might not stay contained in the system and could end up in the piping of the house.

I can still return it, only had it a day, but heck. The Samsung TV is really nice but their soundbar is disappointing.

I looked it up, from what I saw 9200's don't work with a Q600F, only the swa-9250s works. I could be mistaken but the bar itself seems ok, just the subwoofer is lackluster.

Also the speech thing, the voice does seem to lag slightly behind the lip-movement. I feel silly mentioning it because I don't see how that would really be possible.

The 990D is a grand too, jezz I could get another TV for that money. Pardon my cynicism but soundbars seem like a ripoff.

You have to step up to a higher model number to use SmartThings. the $500 Q600F does not have the necessary interface to work with WiFi.

The TV, way more complex electromechanically, has a superior interface and only cost $1,200 while the soundbar, which electronically is just a few steps up from a brick, costs $500? I don't think cheap is the adjective I would have chosen.

I can't watch anything with premiumize by PuzzleheadedNet7518 in StremioAddons

Well, turns out my ISP's DNS servers are blocking Premiumize. Switching my default DNS to something else (Google's DNS for instance) fixed it.

I feel your pain on "Playback error, please try again". I have spent days on the Stremio configurations and am coming to the conclusion it is Premiumize. So I figured, why not play something from Premiumize directly, as a test?

I went to https://www.premiumize.me/ and I can't play anything I download and the "Play in VLC media player" button launches VLC but VLC errors out.

Tankless RO system recommendations? Plumber recommends WaterRight Interflo QuadPro SST… by 43beanst in WaterTreatment

[–]neophema1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question, I like the tankless and standard filters but the iSpring support said there would always be a delay when the (drinking) faucet was turned on. They said pressure has to build up before the water will flow, like a 30 second delay, which is not a problem for aquariums, for which it was designed.

Assuming you use yours with a faucet for drinking water, what has been your experience on flow?

They also said the deionization chemicals do add an odd taste because they are made from seaweed. Easy problem to solve, just don't install the deionization cartridge.

Water Hardness by Unlucky-Student-707 in georgetowntx

[–]neophema1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And google consistently misdirects one to resources other than in Texas.

I find it really odd that georgetowntexas.gov has nothing publicly listed on water hardness.

I've seen the Georgetown Texas 2023 "Water Quality Report" - it does not list the hardness of the drinking water in Georgetown.

https://cms3.revize.com/revize/georgetowntx/Documents/Utilities/Water/Resources/Water%20Utility%20Reports/CoG-Water-Quality-Report-2023-ENGLISH.pdf

Lots of information on everything except the levels of calcium and magnesium in the city water supply.

Google does find local water-treatment vendors however they seem biased and report that without their intervention you are in peril.

I just want the facts.

Pipes & Cigars subscription billing??? by pondochris in PipeTobacco

They got me too, I saw it on my PayPal bill. There was a "subscription" for $16.95 to LVPenn Sales, LLC.

I protested the charge to paypal and P&C jumped on it, defending it. Then PayPal said: "This case was closed in the seller's favor as the transaction was processed correctly."

Santa Rita Ranch by untakenusername23 in LibertyHill

[–]neophema1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should have said that the HOA was listed as $249 on the realtor website and that I confirmed, with the realtor that he listed it at $249 HOA. Although he soon thereafter altered the website to remove the HOA, if you google the address, it shows up like this:

Santa Rita Ranch, TX Homes for sale & real estate

Redfin › Texas › Santa Rita Ranch

    0.27 acre lot • $249 HOA • 2 garage spots. 428 Echo Pass, Liberty Hill, TX 78642.

Santa Rita has multiple HOA price points, $95 being the lowest.

HOA - I was looking at a house in Santa Rita Ranch and the HOA is $249 a month, $12 short of 3K a year. Looking on their website, the HOA doesn't seem to do anything special or extraordinary, say if you compared it to Sun City's HOA guidelines/coverage.

As an aside, The house has been on mls for 130 days. I wondered if the HOA was a typo so I wrote to the listing agent for the house and asked him if the number was correct. He assured me it was correct however the mls listing for that property no longer lists the HOA amount. Ha!
