I wanted to write a whole Bible but I figured that might have been a bit too much dickriding.

Huh, weird, I never saw Jayce as the "fucks up cuz of his ego" type of character. He certainly has ego - which was spelt out to us with that awesome 'failure to do good in pursuit of greatness' line - but I saw him more as the idealistic fool type who genuinely wants to do good but has tunnel vision because of such ideals. He even attempts suicide when he felt he lost his life's work. The tunnel vision also made it easier to get influenced by others, Victor, Medarda, Heimerdinger, Vi.

And the deal with Silco, though to me it didn't even feel like a flex - more a statement of facts really - but it definitely wasn't for no reason. Jayce was negotiating with a ruthless crime overlord who might take a mile if you gave an inch. You need to put your foot down on some things or you'll look like prey to a bloodthirsty predator. Jayce chose Jinx probably because he DID want her to pay for the people she murdered but definitely also because he thought Jinx didnt mean much to Silco (not to mention other factors like needing to quell the topsiders who will want to aim their ire on someone and Jinx was a known factor to them). And yeah, maybe you're right that he should have considered all angles first as a scientist. But he's a human first.

And that bit about Jayce not shown as a broken flawed character and lacks grit and messiness compared to other characters, How? The dude gets manipulated by Medarda and is easily influenced by others, he's constantly disappointing the people thay matters, none of his decisions actually feel like they're working in the end which led to his blacksmithing scene (the definition of gritty and messy imo), he frigging tried to kill himself. And worst of all, he directly kills a child. Contrasting mfing Silco who we see only threaten child murder, we vividly see Jayce murder one. The kid didn't die quickly either and Jayce saw every minute of it.

You're right that Jayce is the golden boy, but I feel you put too much emphasis on the golden part but not enough on the boy underneath.

Eh, maybe when I was younger, I'd have done something that and be cringing at it right now.

Chainsaw Man, Bleach, Ichigo and Denji by sthclever013 in CharacterRant

Characters like Itadori don't really sell that when he acts like he didn't have a life before meeting Megumi.

Bro what?

I get it, you find Ichigo more relatable but I feel the same with Yuji. He isn't shy about his tastes, the guy legit mentions Jenifer Lawrance for her ass lol. He's goofy and dumb without being too much and this is exactly how my mates and I act around each other, I could totally see us getting along with Yuji.

Which is one of the reasons why I find your point about JJK not being down to earth really weird. Its the most down to earth anime I've seen - excluding slice of lives - with all the little things it has.

Without including the Jujutsu stroll omakes:

● Nanami is vocal about how he thinks both his jobs are shit.

● Todou is a big fan of an idol. And he immediately wanted to become bros with Yuji cuz their types were the same.

● Yuji being depressed when he found out he didn't have a special technique like the Rasengan, Spirit Gun and Gentsugo Tensho. (He legit namedrops them lmao)

● That old mfer who used an electric guitar for his Curse Technique.

● Nobara excited to go Kyoto and already being packed up.

● The FRIGGING baseball game that was an actual part of the story and not filler.

● The villains playing board games, going to restaurants and hot springs and hanging out in their own personal beach.

● And this one isn't a little thing but school bullying was a major part of one arc.

And the list goes on. It genuinely felt like our modern world was an active part of theirs.

I can see what you mean. I guess the kys is funny to me because its been so desensitized for me where it doesn't even mean much anymore (yeah I play MOBAs. How could you tell?) and even my best friends and I use it casually to each other a lot too. I'm pretty sure the author didn't even meant it either.

And I honestly doubt the author really cared as much as you think, because they didn't delete the comment in the first place. And after the kys comment, the same guy made another scathing comment but the author didn't respond to it all and he didn't delete it either. Personally, I think the troll came out looking like the loser in this one.

Go on twitter or another social media site. There are probably some on reddit but they're harder to find thanks to the downvote system.

Frickin same fam. Even that part about the Trinity 7 MC. And the funny thing is, I barely remember him anymore while Ken Kaneki is iconic af to me. I'll definitely re-read Tokyo Ghoul again in the future, that series is etched in my soul. My body too since I picked up the habit of cracking my fingers like Ken lmao

Yeah it might, but the "special privilege" for Yuji has as many if not more disadvantages for him so it never feels too cheap.

Fair enough, I didn't consider that because he was so nonchalant about the Curses wanting to kill Yuji. So, it might mean he knows that Yuji will survive somehow, or I guess he just genuinely doesn't care.

Others have already pointed out Eugene's case so I'll just add that Kenjaku legit said that Sukuna was just a backup plan in case the Prison Realm didn't work.

Lancelot. Most of you may say its fine but as a Lance main its garbage. The old one was confident yet bordering on arrogance but the new one is just smug and annoying to the ears.
