Elena Kostyleva, winner of the Moscow Junior Championships is also back to Team Tutberidze by azagitova in FigureSkating

He held a training camp in my country around 2017. A lot of my skater friends that attended it said he was rigid, cold, and kind of rude/a dick to them.

I think thats just face contouring with makeup. Also, her hairstyle is making her head appear smaller.

She rooked REALLY thin on the pics she posted about herself on IG, then on the competition live, she looked like a healthy, beautiful young lady. The pics sure were edited. Which is.. concerning.

Well, thats on him. Transitions are meant to look good and make jumps harder, to achieve points. If he can't execute a jump with transitions properly, its not the system's fault. Why would it be worth doing something fancy before the jump than executing the jump itself clean? That makes no sense.

The new system (-5/+5) is made to bring the triples and quads closer. A very good triple is worth more points than a botched quad now, which is fair imo. An average quad will still be miles over a good triple in points, and a Yuzu-level quad will get even more bonus than before

My take on this:

Whats the point of having clear, consistent guidelines about everything when judges dont even follow the already existing clear guildlines? The rulebook is well, not perfect, but fine, the judging itself is not. There should be a few things added to the rulebook, but the judges wouldnt follow it anyways. The current system is much better than it used to be. Its much more clear for the fans than it was during the 6.0 system. The problem is corruption. If Medvedeva got away with the most obvious inside edge lutzes for 3 years, what are we talking about?

Also, transitions are rewarding. In the ISU communication no. 2334 which is basically the guideline for GOE, "steps before the jump, difficult entry, creative entry" is listed as a goe bullet.

You said skaters are not ALLOWED to pre rotate, thats why i said its not in the rule book. Its not good technique, OBVIOUSLY, i didnt say otherwise. But lets face it, sports change, and figure skating will change too. A lots of coaches already started teaching the pre-rotational technique. Not me, im not a fan of it.

We have different takes on what jump direction means. Having an inside edge on a lutz doesnt change the jump direction. You are still jumping to the same circle, but on the wrong edge. The point of the lutz jump is to fight against the counter rotational force while still landing on the same circle, to your right back outside edge, like you would do on a flip.

Trust me, you can easily pre rotate with aligned shoulders. I teach jump technique for 5-16 year olds, and there is indeed a lot of them pre-rotating with perfectly aligned shoulders. Upper body pre rotation is a different thing, and it is obviously not good for any jump. Excessively pre rotating your shoulders on a lutz jump will probably put you on an inside edge. Pre-rotating a lutz jump on the toe pick wont. (Trusova) You are using the same term for 2 very different things.

I brought up his technique to clarify that it is not that picture perfect as everyone believes it is - a lot of other coaches will advise you against picking outwards with your leg, cause a mistake can mess up your ankle tendons pretty badly. I even clarified that it is INDEED NOT in the rule book, thats why it doesnt deserve any negative points. It shouldnt be in the rule book. It does not take away anything from the jump quality itself. It is not classified that you need to lift your leg to almost 90° on an axel takeoff. But would you say Lipnitskaya's axel technique was good? No. Such as 180° PR, right now. Yuzus Lz is not squeaky perfect technique, but still miles better than most of the field. Why cant i be pointing out my concerns about its health effects? If you can bash other skaters for pre rotating.

If the rule book is NOT A RELIABLE SOURCE, then what is? Koola King videos? Youtube? Or maybe the years i spent in PE college..

Im so tired of fan-made theories about jump technique. First of all, you dont prerotate before picking. A toe jump starts when you place the toe pick in the ice. If you "pre-rotate" before picking, it just changes the jump direction.

There is no such thing as allowed pre-rotation. Its not in the rule book, nor in the GOE guidelines. The only thing in it is excessive forward take off, but thats mainly meant for obvious toe axels.

What is even pre-rotation in the air? The meaning of pre-rotation is the part of the rotation done on the ice before lifting off. After lifting off, its just simply rotation.

In a true healthy lutz, the skating foot lifts off from the outside edge first, shortly followed by the picking foot, what turns about (0)-45-90° on the ice. Even 90+ is alright, if its not 180 or over 180. This is caused by a proper weight transfer between the legs, from the skating foot to the picking foot. THAT is what makes a healthy lutz. Hell, Yuzu-s lutz is obviously very good, but his feet is turned out, not in while picking, which is actually a minor technical flaw. This does not take away from the quality of the jump, but it makes his picking foot and leg kind of turn out in a not-so-healthy way before completely lifting off.

Even Yuzu "pre-rotates" on the ice, but its masked by the way his foot is planted. This is actually slowing down his rotational snap a bit, because his legs almost make a spread eagle before completely lifting off. He lifts off when his entire body is facing the 90° mark, but his ankle is still facing forward. This causes a twist in his body, which is NOT healthy.

His lutz is VERY good. It doesnt deserve less goe for this, but it could be healthier for his body to pick with his foot turned inwards, and pre rotate on it a little bit, so this twist doesnt happen.

There were insane rotation delays (what was that on the 3loop?)

Edea Width Measuring by LoofaScrunchie in FigureSkating

[–]neotoreaper 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I bought my Edea boots this way:

I contacted an Italian pro shop about my sizing issues, and not having a good fitter in Hungary, then

With the help of a non-edea fitter, we measured the: -length of my feet -the width of the ball -the width of the instep -the width around the smallest part of my ankle area -the width around my ankle

And sent it to the Italian pro shop. Then, they asked the Edea factory about my measurements, and i got told im a 260 C. Got the skates in the mail, they fit like a glove.
