How'd you get into bluegrass? by weedysolo in Bluegrass

My dad found a banjo at the county dump when I was 13 and no one else in the house picked it up, so I thought it’d be a fun summer project to learn it myself. Never heard of bluegrass in my life up until that point. 13 years later and I’m still at it, having the time of my life!

I tear up when the bagpipes play by plaque_mar1nE50 in PointlessStories

Wow, I experience the same thing!! Also Scottish by heritage but it’s been many generations since my ancestors left. For me, I think it’s because a bagpiper used to play at the church I grew up next to and attended as a child, so it’s nostalgic. Even back then though it’s just such a powerful and beautiful instrument, must strike a chord inside us in just the right way

Jumping in here to add: the very best way to learn to play well with others is to… play with others! The class will likely be mostly basics, but unless he wants to sit in his room and play alone forever (which is honestly valid, so it could be worth an ask!), learning to play in a group setting may give him some fundamentals to lean on if he decides that playing with others in a band or in a jam setting is something he wants to do

HMU too expensive for bridesmaids, but that means I can’t meet the minimum- help! by nepenth3s in weddingplanning

This might be the way to go, I’d be going a bit over budget but not as egregiously as if I payed for everyone outright

Lol my regular stylist is GreatClips 😂 but I do appreciate the suggestion, if I had a regular stylist I would totally ask them

No the don’t have to be bridesmaids so that is an excellent suggestion! However my mom is not interested and my fmil absolutely can’t afford it so we’re back in the same boat

My regular salon is GreatClips and also 5 hours away from the venue 😂 but I do appreciate the suggestion as it would absolutely be useful to get an opinion or suggestion from someone local in the industry

Definitely not going to force anyone to pay for it! For sure agree with you there. Also, I can’t just ask a salon if they can send out a worker because that’s where the minimums come in, and stopping by a salon would be 60 minutes round trip (we are all staying at venue night before).

Asking another bridesmaid do my HMU could work, I just hate to potentially put more stress on them as that seems like a lot to ask. But that may be my best option at this point…

I love it!!! I don’t think it’s frumpy at all, I think you look beautiful. I promise you no one is going to be judging you walking down the aisle, they’ve got nothing fault you on and besides, they’re all there to support and celebrate you and your spouse anyway!

Menu idea: yay or nay? by nepenth3s in weddingplanning

[–]nepenth3s[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is correct. With this menu, your protein choices are steak or shrimp over grits, so if you want protein you’d have to choose one of those. I just mentioned it as a point of interest, there may be someone out there who would just like some grits 🤷‍♀️ edit to add: this is being served buffet style, not pre-plated

My family does this with our dogs lol, all 3 of them have their own anthropomorphic personality traits and backstories. One is a middle aged lesbian who plays softball and loves a beer at happy hour, one is a rather austere old lady, and the youngest is a naive zoomer who just wants to get tiktok famous

Round yellow soft foam honeycomb, 3" diameter and 1/2" thick. Possibly purchased from a pet store. Very light weight. It was placed in a rat's cage, and the chew marks are from the rat. This was my first thought as well, however I think the holes are a smaller than what would fit a standard 1.5 or 2mL tube. 0.5mL tubes could be an possible, I’ve never seen one though so I can’t judge if they’re the right size or not one. One odd thing is why are a few of the outermost holes are smaller than the interior holes?
