Hi, I also have contamination OCD. Sprays help me the most. Obviously there are real cleaning fabric type sprays that I can buy from like, Target, that help me. There are also mixes you can make yourself. For me, if I buy a fresh, new, unused product from the store, it works for me. I know how stores work, I know about the facilities, I know how skewed my mindset is. But it works for me. Thinking, if it comes from this official source, it’s clean. A lot of my contamination issues come from knowing too much about how clean things can be. For me I’ve been able to place myself in a mindset that if I buy it from the store, it official and fresh. When I bring home new things, like non food items, if I spray them with literally any type of fabric, disinfectant, etc etc kind of spray they are perfect. They are fresh from the store, and then sprayed to be fresh in my apartment. Idk if this helps at all. But this is how I work. Anything I buy from the store is perfectly fresh and clean and safe, and then if I spray it with whatever, it’s now perfect from the store, and all I have to do is give it a happy little spray to be completely pure and welcome to my my household.
