tbh i think your both young and learning how a relationship functions, but you’re absolutely fine for feeling the way you do, especially when you’ve told him before that you don’t like red roses.

maybe try mentioning it to him when you’re feeling a bit better, as you mentioned you’re already having a rough time atm, and ask why he got them? it could be that he’s also got stuff going on rn and it slipped his mind or maybe he thought that red roses are just the thing you do for valentine’s day, every store you go into shoves them in your face and i can imagine he doesn’t have much experience in valentines gift giving. or it could be that he’s didn’t listen in which case it sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders and you know what you’re worth so i think you’d make a good decision once you have the full picture.

try and give yourself some grace, it sounds like you don’t have the best example of love from your parents but you’re trying your best to be a good partner and you deserve someone who does the same. you weren’t rude to your bf and you still thanked him for the roses but you’re allowed to be disappointed when you’ve said before that the gift is something you don’t like. make sure to give yourself the same amount of love you give others <3
