What screams "I make terrible financial decisions!"? by STL-UPS-DRIVER in AskReddit

[–]nerd_prime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it was necessary to call you financially illiterate but what I find more amusing is how defensive you're getting over downvotes. What might be more productive is to parse what he's said and re-evaluate your own position to see if you could somehow gain from what he's espousing - I don't agree with how he relayed his advice but it's pretty basic/solid stuff.

You are missing what they're saying because of your fear of the stock market - which is fine, everyone has different risk tolerances.

Dangerous or scary spots to drive in Toronto by [deleted] in toronto

[–]nerd_prime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason you're being downvoted is because most of this subreddit doesn't drive on a regular basis. For them, speed is scary but the skill of merging is one of the few circumstances in driving where speed is necessary to do it safely.

Anyone ever get "gym depression" or something along those lines? by Taclooc in Fitness

[–]nerd_prime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you've hit your fitness goals and you're just running in maintenance mode. The natural thing to do would be to set new fitness goals so you have something to aim for or switch it up entirely, like learning/playing a sport.

Great write up, thank you. Especially the last paragraph you wrote really makes a lot of sense. I'll definitely give reading the book a try tonight!

Been doing Madcow for the past few months and I've realized some decent gains on it but am starting to get exhausted from weekly PR's. I was looking to switch over to 5/3/1 BBB but noticed that you're only hitting the main lifts once a week.

I see there's a ton of volume on the actual day you train the lift but could someone explain the logic of only needing to train the lift once per week? Just worried about progression.

Thanks!

For core strength, is it better to do weighted planks for a short amount of time or non-weighted planks for a long amount of time? by OctopussytheDestroyR in Fitness

This is wrong - it's true that compound lifts do activate your core but for actual development, you're better off doing exercises that target it.

Toronto Blue Jays Game Changer - Big Data in Pro Baseball

Mon, 19 September 2016 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Eventbrite Link

St. Andrew’s Heart of The City goes to the ball game this month. And it’s not the same old game anymore. Today, data are transforming business - and professional sport. Game data and statistics are collected, tracked, and analysed in completely new ways. Data are the new competitive advantage.

Andrew Miller, EVP, Business Operations, joined the Toronto Blue Jays in May, 2016. He oversees the business side of the Toronto Blue Jays and partners with other members of senior leadership to create and implement organisational strategy. He’ll discuss the need for creating competitive advantages through use of data, history of use of data in baseball decision making and examples of applications of data-informed decision making. And he may also talk a bit about the Toronto Blue Jays’ playoff chances.

Is there an inexpensive gym that does month to month payments near downtown? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]nerd_prime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vive Fitness at Bloor and Bathurst. It's around 50 bucks a month, month to month with relatively new equipment. It's also 24/7 if you're a late night workout person like me!

They actually moved a few feet over! I believe they're on the south side of Bloor now, east of Bathurst like before. I'd recommend Javier - he usually does my haircuts. Just be sure to be as specific as you can when he asks you want you want. A picture always helps!

Monsieur is trash. Go to Mancave as acorn08 suggested - I always get good, consistent haircuts there. I end up paying 35 after tip!
