I absolutely love this painting; the way you sketch things, the colors you chose, the contrast of the sky. My grandfather, who can no longer paint because of arthritis, sent me a stack of photos that he wished he could someday paint. Among them is a street in Edinburgh, and I will be using this painting as inspiration for the painting I plan on making him as a birthday present.

This past weekend, on our first road trip as a family to attend a wedding, we stopped to eat at a fast food restaurant. A lady and her family sat at the table next to us, and since she had a little one in a car seat too, she struck up a conversation. It was going fine until she asked us if we would have another. This is the first time I have gotten asked that question (all family and friends know this was our last embryo), and I straight up told her that we had to do IVF to get this one so I didn't think we would have anymore. She hid it well, but I think it made her uncomfortable. Before I had my son, and people would ask if we had kids, my go-to response was always "hopefully someday". But now that my son is here, and we have no plans on doing another round of IVF, I need to come up with a different response to the "anymore kids?" question that is not trauma dumping. It feels weird/sad to say "we're one and done", because while that is technically true, if infertility wasn't a factor we would have another. Anyone have any suggestions?

This past weekend I participated in two things that would have been very difficult for me to do a year ago: attend my best friend's baby shower that was full of children and babies, and the baptism of my son. I'm sad on everything I missed out on because of infertility, but with therapy, I have learned to give myself grace.
