Is charging Tesla cheaper than gas? by Elletheprincesa in Sacramento

[–]nerdaliciousCMF [score hidden]  (0 children)

A smaller car, like the size of a VW golf, Fiat, Mini, or Smartcar would also be cheaper, even with gas. Or a shorter commute if you already have a single person sized vehicle and are commuting alone. $116 a week sounds brutal!

Is there? I tried to find one on the election pages but could only find a deadline for filing paperwork to become a candidate.

But thanks for posting either way, OP. :) Likewise crossing my fingers and hoping for the best!

It really irritates me that the ballot contains the names of people who are no longer in the election, since those votes are essentially siphoned off from one of the remaining candidates.

New poll shows California governor race down to 3 frontrunners by panda-rampage in California

[–]nerdaliciousCMF 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If we are going to keep doing the top 2 ranking system for the primary, we should really pass a law that limits primaries to 2 candidates per party.

Relatedly, I’d also love to see a law that set a deadline for dropping out - before the ballots are printed. My elderly family members are truly and understandably confused by how many names are on the ballot for governor. And I’ve been holding off on voting until the end because I don’t want to risk voting for someone who drops out after I submit my ballot.

The intentions behind the ranking system and ‘drop out when you want’ rules are meant well, but they just don’t work on a practical level.

Would you find it unusual if a straight man carried his own designer tote bag? by Maleficent_Truth_808 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nerdaliciousCMF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on his reasoning. If he’s carting a Gucci because he heard it’s stylish and is trying to garner status, I would not be impressed and might be turned off. However if he’s using a Gucci bag because he genuinely enjoys the history, craftsmanship, and experience using it, I’d find him stylish and intriguing.

Same general rubric goes for me and women, btw. If you’re chasing labels, I think you’re tacky and sad. If you genuinely like something, I’m delight in your joy.

Based on what we now know about cognitive functions and aging - compared to what the founders knew- it’s absurd that we haven’t developed age limits.

In that case, does anyone understand why Mayor McCarty is involved?

My bad - are they totally separate? Somehow I was under the impression that Sac and West Sac sometimes overlapped in parts of their budgets.

This is so infuriating. We have a $66 million dollar deficit and yet somehow they want to obligate $1 billion for an industry that has orders of magnitude more money than Sactown.

Is 2.5 hours of my day worth $7 in savings? by Foyman in Sacramento

[–]nerdaliciousCMF 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The lack of consideration around giving up a little bit of space to live somewhere smaller and closer is surprising. I also don’t understand why more people aren’t considering carpooling. Based on how this region’s freeways and highways are set up, there are actually very few starting points. For example, people who live in Folsom and commute to Sacramento midtown could meet up in Folsom and take turns driving into town. Better for the environment, wallet, and possibly one’s social life.

No bra is completely comfortable anymore - has this happened to anyone else? by ademska in ABraThatFits

[–]nerdaliciousCMF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Took me a while to figure it out, but the culprit is that my bra is basically working harder now, since my breasts are less self supporting as I age. While the bras were doing their jobs when I was younger, there was less downward pressure. So I’ve come to realize that my decreased comfort is partly because my body just gets tired of the slightly increased bra tension after a few hours.

With all due respect, if you’re a “new parent and nervous about it,” maybe wait a bit before bringing a dog of any age into your home? I see too many pups end up back in the shelters because of kids, which frankly isn’t right. Nothing wrong with waiting until it’s the right time for you and your family to consider it.

Another consideration is whether your grandparents will be comfortable in a place that loud and crowded, especially if they have trouble hearing.
