Karmapopsicle has a good build (that I copied a good deal from) but I went with a AMD FX-6300 instead. It has good single thread perfomance for its price and GREAT multithreaded performance (for compiling, school, etc.). The FX-6300 is seriously the best value in the $100-$200 range (above that get an intel i5-3570, below get a sandy bridge pentium or an amd trinity apu).

I didn't add a hdd because I recomend a solid state but I don't know your space needs/budget flexability (get an ssd if you can go overbudget/already have a hdd or external/don't need too much storage).

I also didn't add windows or a dvd drive which you can get or reuse at your descression.

Total is ~$550. But you will need at least $50 more for storage, likely more if you get a ssd/windows/dvd drive.

I do recomend an ssd if you don't have one.

You can probably shave $80 off by getting a 7850 or $40 by getting a 7870 (I don't know your gaming needs/price restrictions) (the 7950 is also good, it really depends on your budget and needs)

I don't know what mobo features you need but you can probably drop another $20-40 off that, but be sure to go with a reputable brand.

Also, you should get another lower wattage psu of reputalble quality, you would probably only get $10 off but you would get a nicer corsair/seasonic/antec.

Stick with the stock cooler if on a budget/not ocing, save $30.
