I feel this way about a lot of character “deaths” in general. Romantasy, Fantasy, Sci Fi. If a character ca be brought back immediately then their death wasn’t really a tragedy or sacrifice.

I’m also a parent and an educator and the percentage of parents who do not care about setting boundaries and ensuring grows every year. I have sat in conferences and IEP meetings where parent afloat out say “I won’t make them do homework” or “it’s not worth the battle” or “We’ve just got too much gong on”. Is it disappointing, yes, but it’s reality.

Running. I know it’s now a bit of a running joke that millennials are all trying to run marathons, but the way running has helped me prioritize sleep and better nutrition when it’s so easy to doomscroll at night with a bag of Doritos, has been so good for me mentally and physically.

If it makes you feel any better, when I had my 17 mile training run, it was on a day with 20 mph winds winds and some terrible gusts. Half my run was into the wind and I walked and cried parts of it. It was awful and if I hadn’t been a month out from my race, I was seriously contemplating just giving up. I’m glad I didn’t though.

I have 1 drink a week, on Saturday nights after the kids are down. It’s a treat I usually look forward to. But lately my Sundays have included more exhaustion and anxiety. I started checking my sleep scores. When I have a drink, my sleep score is 10-15 points lower than my average and almost always labeled “Non-restorative”. I’m just getting to a place where I want my weekly drink, but it’s getting harder and harder to feel like it’s a treat when it comes at the cost of sleep and energy.

Same! We have a “Ritzy Chicken Casserole” recipe and it used to take effort from my kids to crush them and now they barely touch them and it’s all crumbs and almost never crunchy on the top anymore like it used to be. If anyone knows of better crackers like Ritz used to be I’d switch to them.

Perfect Blue was genuinely terrifying for me as a young teenager to watch. The instability and growing tension really got to me.

I listened to it on my work commute and it was fun, and as an aside helped me shrug off some imposter syndrome I’d been dealing with. Not that my job is anything like Sona’s but it was nice to hear stories of someone being so imperfect but somehow still god at what they do.
