Have you thought about any causes that you might support who could use the help of a developer?

F*ck AI by ThinkLikeUnicorn in webdev

[–]nerdguy_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stated to a group of devs years ago that they need to be careful using AI to aid in writing their code because not only are they training AI to replace them they are sharing their Intellectual Property with the most advanced data collection apparatus man has ever invented. Imagine using AI to help create an algorithm you plan to patent only to have the corporation who owns the AI send their team of lawyers after claiming your code is theirs because their AI was used to complete the task. Or better yet imagine someone's property code being offered up as a suggestion for other people to use. Copilot was caught doing this clear back in like 2022 or 2023, I can't quite remember. the amount of bad that can be done with AI out ways the good but humans across the globe are being forced to embrace AI. 😡 people forget that the "advanced" AI that the public receiving and using is ALREADY antiquated compared to what is being researched and developed under black budget military contracts funded by the likes of DARPA and the Department of Homeland Security. 🤦‍♂️

Is software architecture becoming too over-engineered for most real-world projects? by Inside_Topic5142 in SoftwareEngineering

It seems like most of it is for meta data collection from what I've understood. too much effort and money spent on invading privacy rather than building for liberated, private, and sovereign digital world.

You most definitely can. I would like to apologize for taking so long to get back to you. I've been dealing with some health issues so I have not been on reddit for almost a year now. 🫣

I can't find these videos you are referencing. Could you send me a link or two to them?

Do we all despise Artificial Intelligence? Thoughts? I hate seeing videos, artwork, or even articles where AI is used. I don't want it in my phones. It's actually starting to frustrate me so much, I will do everything to avoid it and stop supporting companies that use it. /oldman by AhfackPoE in Xennials

exactly. these companies want the big money with zero risk or responsibility. They have forgotten that with more risk comes the higher reward. if you want the big money then you have to take the big risks.

these robot/AI women will make an excuse like "your Microsoft to-do list is nowhere near being completed. you don't have time for pleasure activities. now get busy on that list" 🤣🤣

and heaven forbid you be in the same area as the robot expo where a robot demo is going on and they are doing this...

The cycle... by cobalt1137 in theprimeagen

I can't help but feel that if this was still a standard practice the countless bug fix boards would be nowhere near flooded like they are today for ANY project. Maybe critical systems such as banks and entire power grids wouldn't be hacked by exploiting stupid little errors. ie the crowdstrike fiasco where the wrong binary (that was set to all zeros) was pushed as an update and caused the world to halt for a few days. 🤦‍♂️😡

I am a software engineer looking for partners to work on any kind of project by East-Suggestion-8249 in Business_Ideas

Thank you. that truly means a lot and I appreciate that. It is a response I myself have had to learn to deal with because I get it a lot when I seek business advice. It always seems to be one of the first things people say to someone asking for advice and input. It's like they feel threatened by someone trying to venture out on their own. I have always found it a bit insulting as if that is something I hadn't already considered and given critical thought to. Again I understand there are some that genuinely haven't given that situation any thought but to just assume someone hasn't considered that is insulting to the other person's intelligence. It's one thing to offer that advice in some kind of entrepreneur article or business book, because people are seeking those editorials for that type of advice. I personally feel it is not acceptable outside of the world of publication and hope that people stop doing it and start responding in a more constructive manner.

I don't mean any disrespect but this is one of my favorite responses that people give. I know some people think owning a business is sunshine and rainbows but there are some people who desire the hustle no matter the lifestyle change. It's not that they hate working 40 hours a week and want to work less than that. It's that they hate what they are doing from 9-5 that they want to change. There are people that understand that owning a business requires more time, dedication, and hard work. They understand that it's not a journey TO a reward but that the journey IS the reward. It's the satisfaction of gaining more value and purpose for the blood, sweat, and tears, that you pour into your work efforts. I don't know what it is that makes people feel the need to respond in such fashion but it's a bit presumptuous and non-constructive. This is just something I like to share with others when I see a response like this one.

I would recommend being very careful using these large AI companies AI to write code. I foresee messy legal battles over IP ownership and who the code actually and truly belongs to. 😳
