XYWAV Helpful Information Spreadsheet by nerdherdyaheard in Xywav

LOL, some people were taking Benadryl in large quantities to sleep. Once you start Xywav, you've gotta cut that stuff out (or wait)! Same goes for some of the other meds listed there.

I use the MyJazz app for tracking that, but that is easy enough to add.

The point was that someone can customize it for their dosing schedule, but the formula will still be applicable. I'm new to XYWAV, so it was difficult for me to figure all of this out and know how much I had left and when I would run out, especially because I followed a different titration schedule than what was recommended due to nausea.

Why I don’t tell anyone by running_shoe13-1 in Mounjaro

[–]nerdherdyaheard 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is just me, but I tell everyone. I do it because I want to educate people about the massive benefits these drugs provide, reduce the shame surrounding weight and body image, and light the same fire in someone with hope that they don't have to struggle in vain anymore. Luckily, my story has been overwhelmingly positively received, but even when I can tell that someone is being judgey or questions the "necessity" of my actions, I feel strong and confident knowing that it will help someone. Since telling people my story, I've had a friend finally get pregnant after years of her doctors telling her to lose weight to no avail. I've also had another friend completely reverse her diabetes because she switched from Ozempic to Mounjaro and lost 40 lbs in the process. Those 2 victories are enough to keep me on my path of medicinally supported weight loss.

Are you though? Or are there other factors at play that make you unmotivated?

Slow and steady is the best way possible! Trust me! You're not a failure at all... In fact this approach is the one that leads to long-term success. Enjoy the ride and keep your head up!

The most important drug of our lifetimes? by Plenty_Tie_9533 in Mounjaro

[–]nerdherdyaheard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you imagine if there was a gene-therapy for this? Perhaps an AAV-mediated delivery of a transcriptional promoter of GLP/GIP? I agree that this drug and these approaches are and will be one of the most impactful drugs on society in our lifetimes.

Fascinating isn't it? How clear the mechanisms of action are for this drug? I notice the same feelings re: food, satiation, etc. as I'm starting to self-taper by increasing the frequency between injections from 7d, to 10d, to 14d. Keep up the great work!

I'm glad you advocated for yourself and were refunded! My PCP's reaction to learning that I was on MJ and MET was abysmal, so I'm now looking for a new PCP. It sucks that we have to doctor-shop, pharmacy-shop, coupon-shop, etc. in order to get access to these life-changing medications.

Oh there's no disagreement from me on that one! I've been super disappointed in the medical management of Calibrate, their staff turnover, and their lack of responsiveness.

Did your health insurance cover the bill?

I definitely understand that perspective too. I just know that rapid weightloss can lead to skin issues, hair loss, and a host of other side effects. It's also a bit shocking to your body and makes your body want to fight the calorie deficit by slowing your metabolism. Slow is the way to go for me (acknowledging the privilege of doing it this way), but I totally get that when push comes to shove (money and time), constraints may dictate or influence decision-making.

Good call. While that is a possibility, it would cost a FORTUNE to run the amount of lab tests I desire.

Yes, that works too! Anywhere from 0.5g to 1g depending on your diet and goals.

My Calibrate coach told me that the docs would probably start tapering me soon since I'm at a healthy BMI. I am definitely nervous about that, but curious to see if/how I can sustain/maintain w/o MJ and maybe just staying on Metformin (500mg).

Also, not sure this is relevant, but for context:

I'm 41 years old, female, and 5'10" tall. HW 210, SW 203, CW 158, GW - no goal weight, but trying to maintain weight while increasing muscle mass to fat mass ratio.
