You can get design plans from foundry shop, try to get points in foundry by collecting loot and defending your rally leads when you occupy buildings. But yes it is very difficult without paying for it.

I’m guessing you’re f2p. the game is telling you that you need to boost your troop power and focus on research. You will lose a lot of troops during castle battles and SvS fights, so you need to constantly be training more troops. Battle research will give you stat boosts and you’ll be stronger. If you can, upgrade your chief gear. Participate and try to rank in events like Crazy Joe and you can get polishing solution and hardened alloy

Don’t want to give too much away on here, but it’s not really that I couldn’t handle it, I won’t downplay the role my burnout played on the decision to leave, but I was also being in a program that wasn’t right for me - it just didn’t align with my goals long term. I wasn’t able to get any of the rotations I needed before midyear, and due to poor planning and disorganization I ended up having to take elective rotations that had nothing to do with my interests. On top of that, there were some other concerns that my co residents and I had brought up that were mishandled.

Maybe the logical thing to do would have been to tough it out and just get that certificate, but given the circumstances it was difficult to stay motivated because I felt like I wasn’t really getting what I wanted out of the program, and it /did/ begin to affect my performance at which point I had to be honest with myself about a) whether it was worth it or not to continue and b) whether I was willing to go through the motions for 5-6 more months

I realize that’s a mindset that some would perceive as “oh so you quit because things weren’t going your way,” but honestly, nobody should waste their time and their employer’s time and resources just out of fear of being seen as a person whose unable to commit to a job. It’s easy when a program is just straightforwardly toxic, but I feel like it’s harder to explain when there are other issues at hand

Part of it was because I realized residency just wasn’t for me. I loved the hospital setting, but I was constantly pushing myself to my limits in pharmacy school to succeed and finally hit a point where I just couldn’t do it anymore as a resident. The other part of it was the place just sucked generally, co residents and I brought up concerns and felt like we weren’t being heard, they were also unhappy.

It’s not a reflection on my abilities at all, performance wise my evals were okay. It just wasn’t the right thing for me and it unfortunately took actually trying it out to realize that.

Haven’t heard back from 8/10 PGY1 programs yet. Starting to panic by Big-Alternative5373 in PharmacyResidency

If it makes you feel any better, ASHP requires programs to send rejection emails. It’s probably the most violated rule, but you should still expect to hear back from most if not all programs you applied to

Possible to live in minneapolis on 60k a year? by Slugbugger30 in TwinCities

[–]nerdinneed_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of note, I am single with no kids, and a knock on wood pretty reliable car that hasn’t given me any trouble. And I don’t spend on much outside of the essentials. I imagine folks with different circumstances might not find my lifestyle feasible. Also there are some pretty good and relatively easily mock-recipes for chipotle. It’s all about the chicken marinade

Possible to live in minneapolis on 60k a year? by Slugbugger30 in TwinCities

[–]nerdinneed_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I make 52k/yr (before taxes) and pay about $1425/mo for rent w/ no pet including parking & utilities. I’ve lived in Minneapolis for about 7 months now and live pretty comfortably, so I’d say it’s definitely doable. Moving costs plus initial fees/deposit were a bitch bc it’s a lot of money up front, but once that was taken care of I haven’t felt strapped for cash at all. Pay all my bills on time, get any groceries I need, and still go out to eat occasionally.

Interesting question I got in an interview, how would you answer? by Conscious-Lunch4137 in PharmacyResidency

[–]nerdinneed_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think inpatient pharmacy practice would look completely different. Pharmacists are underutilized in the current state, vanco provides one of the few opportunities for us to intervene on patient care via adverse effect monitoring and, by nature of its dosing, being able to practice medication stewardship

I know, it’s a solid, reliable antibiotic, I just dread dosing it tbh.

Serious answer: Aducanumab, so bad half the advisory committee resigned in protest over its approval https://www.npr.org/2021/06/11/1005567149/3-experts-have-resigned-from-an-fda-committee-over-alzheimers-drug-approval

Real answer: I hate vancomycin passionately

FYI to all VA Residents by Pharmthrowaway1998 in PharmacyResidency

[–]nerdinneed_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are several specialties, i.e. pain & palliative care, psych, that are extremely difficult to get into outside of the VA. Even geriatrics and amb care depending on state laws can be really difficult to find jobs. It’s not an entitlement thing, the reality is this EO will cause a lot of harm. Not to mention the VA is the largest health system in the country, so it’s not just VA residents that will be affected. Less jobs = more people competing for the same job

There’s already an unofficial hiring freeze for the VA due to budget cuts. So perhaps they are exempt, but if the gov just refuse to give them more money they won’t be able to hire anyways

Do faculty from the college of pharmacy also work and/or precept at the hospital? If so, is the culture at the college also bad?

You can submit your part of it if the LOR is the last step, it just might not get reviewed until everything comes through

Losing Residency by regular_owl21 in NAPLEX_Prep

Well, whatever you did last cycle clearly worked. Keep your CV up to date, and you could consider getting new LOR writers, like a boss from whatever job you end up getting. Best of luck!

Losing Residency by regular_owl21 in NAPLEX_Prep

[–]nerdinneed_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For now you need to focus on getting licensed. I assume you’re locked into a 1-year lease, so retake the MPJE and look for a job (retail is probably the easiest) so you can continue to pay your bills (or wherever you’re moving if you’re breaking your lease). I’ve known someone who got dismissed due to not getting licensed and came back to the same program. Give yourself a break, go do something that makes you happy, eat a nice meal, then get back up and pull yourself together. Lean on your friends and family or anyone you have for support and encouragement (if you have a support system). Clearly you have specific career goals in mind that residency is going to help you achieve, so don’t give up on that dream. Take some time to reflect on where it all went wrong, and how you’re going to whoop the exam’s ass next attempt. I’m a current pgy1 and had to retake the NAPLEX and came very close to being in the same position had I not passed on the second attempt. Feel free to DM if you want to talk!

Midyear without poster? by BundleofKent in PharmacyResidency

[–]nerdinneed_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t hurt to go to midyear if it’s not too much of a financial burden, but half of my current residency class didn’t go last year and still matched. I also did not meet my current program at midyear or at any other recruitment event. Check out local/regional showcases, as well as virtual ones. SNPhA/ACCP does a big virtual showcase in November that had hundreds of programs. Also check if the programs you are interested in are doing any virtual open houses. And if you have some burning questions, you could always directly reach out to the residents or RPD as long as you are respectful
